Hi, I watched Floob’s video (all 60 minutes!) on config files in v3b2, and I’m sure the info was in there, but I’m going to have to go back and take detailed notes, I think. In the meantime, can anyone tell me how to specify a controller per emulator?
I’ve built a small console device that has 2 sets of arcade style controls interfaced using the xin-mo usb controller. After a bunch of mucking around, it actually works pretty good. I also have a Logitech dual action usb gamepad that I’d like to use for it’s analog joysticks, basically in the n64 and psx titles. Everything works fine if I plug and unplug the appropriate controllers, but is there a way to specify that the Logitech is to be used for player 1 in those two emulators, while the xin mo is used for P1 in the others? Any help is appreciated!
JaredTopic: Audio randomly drops
Another issue, and I’ve notice this after installing snes-9x-next, is the audio from all roms will sometimes randomly stop (NES, SNES and N64). I have to reset the game to get audio back. I really notice it when I’m in the game setup (to Load and Save State). When I Load State, the audio just stops. I’m running 2.6 right now, but I also notice 3.0 doing the same thing. Thoughts? Anything in a config file I need to set?
I was able to hack cheats to work with 2.6 by modifying the runcommand for mupen64plus. I tried with BETA 1 and now with a fresh BETA 2 and keep getting a Segmentation Fault error.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
If you reach this post looking for cheats, here is how they *should* work for Mupen64plus:
– Download https://raw.githubusercontent.com/libretro/mupen64plus-libretro/master/mupen64plus-core/data/mupencheat.txt and place it in /opt/retropie/configs/n64
– Run /opt/retropie/emulators/mupen64plus/bin/mupen64plus –cheats list “/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64/Whatever ROM You Want To Cheat.z64”You should then get a readout of the cheats available & make note of the ones you want to use.
Now, this is the part that is the “hack”, you must add an “emulator” to the list of run commands in /opt/retropie/configs/n64/emulators.cfg
I am trying to hack the cheating AI in Mario Kart 64 but I thought it would be best to start with a working cheat code (infinite stars). So I added this line:
mupen64plus-gles2n64-mkcheat=”/opt/retropie/emulators/mupen64plus/bin/mupen64plus –noosd –fullscreen –gfx mupen64plus-video-n64.so –configdir /opt/retropie/configs/n64 –datadir /opt/retropie/configs/n64 –cheats 0-3 %ROM%”
This is exactly like the mupen64plus-gles2n64 line EXCEPT, I modified the text before the = sign (adding mkcheat) and added the command-line option for the cheat at the end, though before the %ROM% variable. The 0 represents the number of the cheat code (Infinite Items) and the 3 represents the option (Invincibility Star) which gives us –cheats 0-3.
Now, what this does is give you an additional “emulator” to choose from when you configure the game/emu by hitting X or M after launching from EmulationStation. Change the default emulator+rom option to the “mkcheat” version and mupen should attempt to launch with cheats enabled.
I just started running N64 games on my Raspberry Pi 2 RetroPie. They run alright, kind of. Except, when for instance I run Windwaker or Mario Kart the audio continually skips. The music just cuts out over and over, and the sound effects are really distorted. Also, in the mario kart 64 menus all of the text and images are distorted and blurred to the point that you can’t read them. Finally, when I run something like pokemon snap there are all sorts of weird rendering problems. Any ideas or tweaks on how to fix that? I’ve already tried multiple roms. Thanks!
Topic: N64 controller setup
I am having trouble with a Retrolink N64 Usb controller.
I tried running the retroarch controller config via script, but i can’t figure out wich default retroarch button mapping pairs with the N64 style buttons. Or in other words, how the core treats the Z and C buttons.
The script asks for L2, R2, etc. buttons but never asks for an C UP.
Also, in-game when I press Z the emulators keeps alternating control mode “default and alternate” I don’t want this to happen.
Anyone have success configuring it?
Here are how retropie maps my controller.
B 8 A 6 START 9 Z 7 C UP 0 C RIGHT 1 C DOWN 2 C LEFT 3 L 4 R 5Thanks for the help.
Topic: Map an exit button for N64
Ok i am using N64 glens2rice emulator and i configured my ps3 controller to work.
But how do i map an exit button?
Hi there,
I’ve been trying to relive some of my childhood memories with retropie. Thusfar I really love it!
Unfortunately I can’t seem to get the N64 roms working properly… Allmost all of them have a crackling sound, plus the framerate is really slow.
I’ve been reading up on the forum regarding config.txt settings, and after like 30 different attempts I still don’t have a nice setup.
Also, running on a 5v power cable guys.. so there should be no issue there.
Any suggestions?
ps: if you managed to find the ‘holy grail’ of config.txt please upload it to the forum. Most of the tips are just bits and peaces which might be in conflict with other settings.
I have big performance Problems with my Raspberry Pi 2.0
Using retropie v3.0 (sd image)i have connected:
usb controller and wireless keyboardSNES games run poorly with bad sound and low fps (for example Mario, super metroid, F zero)
I don´t understand that because I saw a lot of videos of people running even starfox or n64 games fluidly
I´ve already set the clock to the raspi 2 setting, everything else is left default.
I´m new to RetroPie and hope someone can help me.
Topic: N64 at 1080p?
Is it possible to run N64 games at 1080p native (not upscaled from 720p), or is this too much for pi?
If not, I may have to seriously consider buying a 720p display.
Edit: got this working :)
Like the title says, I have a Superpad 64 Controller that Ive got setup through GPIO, everything works, except there seems to be a little lagg sometimes when reading button presses, and the Sensitivity on the analog stick, will only allow me to walk, as if I was barely touching it…
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!
Topic: 4 players in many emulators
Hy everybody!
As the title sugests, im looking for make 4 players available in the following emus: Mame, PiFba, N64, Mega Drive.
So far now i got to set things nice in mame and pifba, im stuck with the megadrive configs i’ve read about genesis-gx-plus and installed it, but i simply can’t figure out how to make 4 players works, i read somewhere that setting 4-wayplay or teamplay on p1 would work but this is not working here.
my setup is kinda odd, for I want to make the keyboard p1 and 3 usb joysticks the other 3 players.
They’re named differently and I (hope) managed to set their devices staticaly on udev (js0 will be always the same joystick, and so the others)If anyone seeing this post could help, even if I have to change emulator or mess in c/c++ code i will try to do.
All I need is to make sega genesis emu run with 4 players so me and my friends could play YuYu Hakusho Makyoutohissen. :D
If you need me to post any config files ask here, as well as any other info about setup. im running 3.0 beta 2 from retropie.
thanks in advance.Topic: Having issues with N64 ROMs
Hello all newbie here,
I am having issues with my N64 roms on Retropie, everytime I try to play a game it is horribly choppy and the sound will cut out randomly. Also most text dialogues are unreadable. My super nintendo Roms work fine, which leads me to believe it may be a proformence issue
here are some additional details
Pi Model: 2b
RetroPie Version Used: 3.0.0 Beta
Built From: SD Image
USB Devices connected: Steelseries 3gc controller
Controller used: same as aboveGuide used: http://lifehacker.com/how-to-turn-your-raspberry-pi-into-a-retro-game-console-498561192
Followed this guide, but instead of using wifi to transfer my roms I transfered them through a FlashdriveI’ve tried overclocking and such. Anyone have any suggestions?
