    Like I said in my posting, there are a lot of other problems when using mupen64plus-video-rice. Zelda, Ocarina of Time crashes as soon as you enter the Menu, for example when you open it first to equip a sword. Extreme G2 work very poorly, even worse then on the mupen64plus-video-n64.

    I had the same issue. What I did was I unzipped my rom and placed it in the mupen64plus folder, I also overclocked my pi to the pi2 1000 mhz overclocking, then I changed the video plugin from mupen64gles2 to mupen64rice in the mupen64plus.cfg file. Once I opened up the game again in the emulator it fixed it, then I exited back out and changed the screen update setting from 6 to 4

    Most n64 games seem to work fine for me and psx games as well a little laggy and some sound glitches here and there but overall it runs nicely both multiplayer and single. I have the RPI2 B with some heatsinks and a fan and it stays cool on the default RPI2 Overclock settings.

    Same here. All other emulators works but Mupen64plus doesn’t, no sound. I use the audio jack for sound.

    How about raspi-config and sound settings? Is the audio jack forced?

    Hey,

    First post but longtime user!

    So The raspberry pi 1 has served me more then well over ther years, but its time for an upgrade. I´m kinda leening to the Rpi2 over other bord-computers like say the C1 etc, simply cause the first one has served so well.

    But i also whould like a little more grunt this time, like N64 and ps1.

    And since this place seems to now more about this then other forums i thought i ask you guys some questions.

    As i understand its only 1 core on the Rpi 2 is beeing used at the moment, when all 4 cores is in use ( will that happen?) will fe N64 and ps1 games be a breeze for the pi2, and can it handle multiplayer with splitscreen?

    Or is it more of an noobrainer to go for the c1 wich is a little more powerful but lacking the whole community behind it?

    i have been at this all day cant figure it out!
    first i am using a raspberry pi 2
    and the newest image
    and xbox wireless controllers

    i have had hotkeys setup with old setup .but cant get it to work right on new image.
    i first use the defualt xpad driver for controllers
    and when into the retroarch.cfg and added the hot keys i wanted

    at the end of the config file i put

    input_enable_hotkey_btn = 6
    input_exit_emulator_btn = 7
    input_save_state_btn = 5
    input_load_state_btn = 4

    andi it worked fine for sega , nes , gamegear ,gameboy color ,gameboy , psx
    but didnt work for n64 or snes
    with snes i could exit and save and load state just not with the buttons I had defined
    and n64 nothing worked

    so i gave up
    and wanted to fix the xbox controller leds from flashing
    so i had to use the xboxdrv driver and set it up
    and blacklisted xpad
    restarted and leds were fixed and controllers working fine
    so than i went back to retroarch.cfg
    and add hot keys same as before
    now all the emulators but n64 have hotkeys but not the ones i defined and they are different for each emulator .
    I than erased the hotkeys i put into retroarch.cfg
    ran the ./retropie-setup.sh script
    and configured my controller in the setup menu
    and it saved to XboxGamepad(userspacedriver).cfg
    than i added the hotkeys to XboxGamepad(userspacedriver).cfg
    still nothing
    when into snes folder to see if the was a config file that was overriding my config and there was nothing
    I am out of options and read all i could fined on it
    please help

    I’m playing NES, SNES, N64, and PSX games with a PS3 controller over bluetooth. Having no problems with ROMs. I’ve got my RPi2 overclocked to the standard overclock setting in raspi-config at 1000mhz. Graphics memory at 384. I’ve only had to moderately change a few settings, but all of the help I have gotten from these forums. Currently the quad core processor isn’t being utilized to its full potential, but theres a dramatic increase in performance compared in RPi 1 to RPi 2.

    Thank you for providing this information, I will try these settings over the next 48 hours and provide feedback to this thread.

    I have two heat sinks at the moment but have no fan, I will definatally get one though if this works.

    Okay, I have some more info that might be able to help find the solution, I dug around in /opt/retropie/configs/n64/ and found InputAutoCfg.ini. In that file is the joypad mappings for the usb controller. I also noticied that when I plug in the controller it does not say it is configured at the bottom, only that it is plugged in. I’m guessing that means that retroarch does not run this .ini when I plug in the controller? Looking in the retroarch config folder I can’t find the N64’s config there. Am I getting close?

    I’m using the RetroLink N64 USB, RetroPie 2.6, and RPi2. Loading N64 games through RetroArch renders the joypad usesless, I can only control the game with the keyboard. I’ve tested the joypad and it works loading the game through MupenPlus. RetroArch successfully takes the input when playing SNES or GBA games, so this seems strange. Any thoughts? Anyone run into this?

    I have not been able to figure it out yet. I do however have sound from all other emulators/programs just not Mupen64plus.

    In this tutorial I will show you my complete setup on my Pis these can be adjusted for either Pi 1 or Pi 2 only differences will be the minor adjustment of the overclock settings if you so choose to do so. This tutorial is recommended to be used with a PlayStation 3 controller whether wireless or wired but will assume you want it wireless using a usb bluetooth adapter. This tutorial assumes you know how to either login to your Pi via putty or through the Pi directly.

    The scripts provided will setup your Pi to run the following emulators.

    Genesis
    Game Gear
    GameBoy
    GameBoy Advance
    GameBoy Color
    Sega32x
    SegaCD
    PlayStation
    Nintendo
    Super Nintendo
    Nintendo 64

    Everything will and can be completed in 4 quick steps. From start to finish I was able to complete in less then 20mins only using 4 scripts and using a gui 3 times. I will break the codes down for the post but will provide quick and easy copy and paste scripts. You will need to provide your own roms and manually upload them but everything else is streamlined.

    Preffered Hardware:

    Raspberry Pi2
    8gb MicroSD card
    USB Bluetooth Dongle
    PlayStation 3 Controller

    There are lots of YouTube videos out there.
    I’m uploading one right now, i’ll edit this post as soon as the video is ready.
    Not using any overclock or special settings, the performace is pretty good. Got some little slowdowns on GBA but the rest runs on 100% speed.

    It’ll help when mixing and matching emulators – particularly different Retroarch cores – for the same systems. N64 is a good example.

    What are your setting for the Pi2? I tried 1100 and just got the rainbow. I was going to get a heatsink and give it another try.

    Hey guys, so im fairly new to raspberry pi as well as retropie, but Ive gotten everything installed and working on my pi. Now Ive been playing some n64 games on my pi and they seem to be working fine but i notice a minor video stutter so I was just wondering if it was worth playing around with the overclock settings on the pi2? I see a lot of stuff for overclocking the original pi but i was just curious if overclocking the pi2 would make a difference? Thanks for the help everyone!

    Thank you smatticus for sharing your experience with the latest image! I’ll probable gonna use nes, snes, both sega 8 and 16 bit.
    And maybe psx and n64 in future.

    Please try to use audio-sdl. Open /opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg and replace mupen64plus-audio-omx.so with mupen64plus-audio-sdl.so.

    Hi all,

    Getting on well with RetroPie + the Pi2. Everything seems to be running fairly well. Looking forward to the N64 emulation to be tweaked.

    One issue I’m having though is with Gpsp. I have got the libretro version and the controls are working correctly but the directional pad seems to be mapped to the left thumbstick on my 360 pad. This would be fine if it wasn’t incredibly sensitive – seems like there is no deadzone at all. I have tried using the F10 menu to remap but can’t map the directional pad on the 360 pad.

    Any advice? GBA games are pretty much unplayable with the thumbstick at the moment.

    The title says it all. When I use this emulator (not the libretro one) and select the analog jack in the mupen64.cfg file under omx-audio setting, it plays the sound perfectly, but the video stutters. If I set it to hdmi, the emulator seems to run flawlessly.

    What is the reason and how to fix this?

    I’ve just set up the new version of retropie on my raspberry pi 2 and configured a ps4 controller for it.

    Even though i didn’t set a button to end emulation (it’s just set as the escape key on the keyboard) if I press the square and triangle buttons together it ends the emulation. I’ve tested on PSX, N64, SNES, MD and Sega CD and all of them do it.

    Anyone know what is causing this and how i can disable it?

    Here’s my solution to making a permanant fix for PlayStation 3 controllers whether wireless or wired. This changes ownership, adds the function to leave a rom by sitting start and select at the same time and switches Sega Genesis, 32x, and cd to a 6 button controller for both players however only changes config on a single controller at the moment until i setup my second. I know the code is very sloppy and probably redundant but it works in putty flawlessly.

    Here’s my solution to making a permanant fix for PlayStation 3 controllers whether wireless or wired. This changes ownership, adds the function to leave a rom by sitting start and select at the same time and switches Sega Genesis, 32x, and cd to a 6 button controller for both players however only changes config on a single controller at the moment until i setup my second. I know the code is very sloppy and probably redundant but it works in putty flawlessly.

    I’ve been trying the two different plugins, rice and n64 by editing /opt/retropie/configs/n64
    VideoPlugin = “mupen64plus-video-n64”
    #VideoPlugin = “mupen64plus-video-rice”

    rice seems to be good for some but not when ssbros has multiple enemies it grinds to a halt.

    I also think the (E)Europe roms result in the menus not being corrupted, I’m just going to test this again to make sure by disabling rice again.

    Zersus it was another post with attached screenshots showing corrupted menus…cant find it.

    Same issue here, using Rpi2.

    Symptoms:
    -video runs very very smoothly – probably at least 50 fps!! It’s possibly running too fast?
    -Audio seems to struggle to keep up, occasionally speeding up or crackling

    Honestly, though, PSX on the Rpi1 was just horrible – definite video lag, long load times, and all this on a dangerously high overclock. Rpi2 is definitely a good investment to iron out the video lag in PSX, N64 and MAME. I’m confident that with the right configuration it will run PSX flawlessly.

    I can confirm that SuperFX SNES titles run great on Pi2.
    Some N64 titles work great; depends on the emulator.
    PSX Emulation is extremely smooth video-wise; some audio issues at present but I think these can be resolved by software tweaks.

    In your first example, rather than put the mario kart rom in the /n64 directory – put it in the n64-mupenplus directory and it should run fine.

    Hello everybody, I like to keep you up to date. What I did now is, I changed the video plug in by following this video! http://youtu.be/4WX7RrzUtII
    Now the mupen64plus can start Zelda Ocarina of tie, but with some big glitches. Same goes for other games. The original mupen64 sadly don’t change. It is still the faster emulator and games seems to run on better ftps, but still look broken like shown in my first screenshot.

    Update,

    As a reference I found a N64 emulator for my Mac and I used the sam ROMs i’m using on the Pi and they play fine so I know its the emulator on the Pi.

    I have over clocked the Pi and I can say that it’s not running them at full speed, the emulator on my Mac shows 30 fps constant and side by side I would say the Pi is in places going down to about 15-20 fps.

    I guess it’s early days still for the Pi2 and code needs to be optimised for the extra cores.

    Hey all,

    I purchased two Retrolink N64 controllers to play N64 games. But now I’m starting to see how well the new RPi2 and RetroPie handle PSX games… but I don’t want to use my keyboard to control them. Is there any way to setup the N64 controllers to control PSX Games?

    Also, has any found a solution for the “no BIOS found” error on starting PSX games? I placed the scph7502.bin in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ and still get that error.
