    What about the old config files not being removed for Mupen64 from the folder migration since 2.1? If you remove all the old config files, and uninstall Mupen64>
    $ make
    Mupen64Plus makefile.
    Targets:
    all == Build Mupen64Plus and all plugins
    clean == remove object files
    rebuild == clean and re-build all
    install == Install Mupen64Plus and all plugins
    uninstall == Uninstall Mupen64Plus and all plugins
    Then try a source based installation using 16mb shared ram setting in raspi-config, and try building without the RetroPie-Setup Script it might build properly with the config files going into the correct folders.
    I don’t know I’m no longer running RetroPie 2.3 image to test right now.

    This segmentation fault is nothing to do with the rom-sets themselves,
    It is an Emulator issue.!
    The Xbox Classic had similar problems with the N64 when it was getting upgraded.(and still has a few issues today Even on the 360).
    My suggestion would be to get the previous version and overwrite the current emu.
    and see how it goes.

    I am also having this problem. Whenever I try to launch a N64 game, I get a segmentation fault.

    Hello all,

    I’ve installed the last version of retropie and tried the N64 emulator to see what happens. I’ve tried mario, Zelda but none of them works. I always get a “segmentation fault”.

    Any idea of what is the problem ?

    This might come from insufficient amount of RAM when compiling the N64 emulator mupen64. Unfortunately, this is not checked before compiling mupen64 in the RetroPie-Setup Script. I have added this issue to the issue tracking list of the RetroPie-Setup Script.
    You might try to set the GPU memory to 16 MB via sudo raspi-config before running the complete source-based installation. Remember to set back this setting to 256 MB before running EmulationStation!

    I want to set up hotkeys for different controllers, because while I usually use a PS3 controller, I bought an N64 controller to play N64 games with. However, since the button mappings are different, it can cause problems (i.e. the hotkey becomes the left dpad, causing left + x to exit or perform some other function). Can this be done?

    Shouldn’t it be possible to make a emulator for the n64 that runs at 100%? I remember when the UltraHLE emulator came out for PC. It was possible to run almost all N64 games at 100% speed on my pentium 1 200MHz. Is a Raspberry Pi at 1GHz slower than a 200MHz pentium?

    I’ve tried ones with z64 and n64 and all have the same problem with the segmentation fault at line 23 like you have.

    What if we have a problem where line 23 of runcommand.sh has a segmentation fault when trying to open any N64 ROM?

    I am having a similar issue. I can load games from SNES, Genesis etc but if I try and load anything from N64 I get the usual terminal view (Albeit in a much lower resolution, which I cannot read, haven’t messed around with the config files at all yet) and then it spits me straight back to emulation station.

    Any ideas?

    N64 games doesn’t start. I can see the roms start to load, and everything seems ok, the resolution changes, but then it quits and goes back to Emulator station. The following lines are there:

    Core: Starting emulation 1332
    Core: Starting R3400 emulator: Dynamic Recompiler
    Core: Init new dynarec
    Core Status: Stopping emulation.
    Core: R4300 emulator finished.
    Core: Stopping emulation at 2650
    Core Status: Rom closed.
    Powering on HDMI with preferred settings
    ondemand

    Im not sure what to do about this. I’m running a high overclocked b+ with stock RetroPie on it. I haven’t been able to update from the version 2.3 because I cannot get the internet set up at the moment in my house, but I have downloaded the most recent image on the retropie download site (aka I did it 3 days ago).

    Try:
    -using the .n64 file extension on your roms instead of .64
    -downloading the ROMs again; but keep them in the .ZIP files.

    Hello,

    I’m trying to play N64 Games on RetroPie, but everytime i try to start a game, the screen goes black for 1-2 seconds, then the screen resoloution changes and then it kicks me back to the selection screen. The simulation seems to stop because of a Segmentation fault: opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 23: 2330 Segmentation fault ./mupen64plus /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/n64/MarioKart.64

    I have the same issue with the exact same error messages you also have pictures of. Im running the b+ model with an N64 controller.

    It seems to work if you run mupen64plus from the command line. It just won’t start from EmulationStation. No idea why … still tinkering.

    I’ve installed the ricrpi branch of Mupen64plus, and the installation went well. I’ve set up the correct binary path in /etc/emulationstation/es_config, but game ROM’s won’t actually run. I redirected STDOUT and STDERR to a file so I could see what’s happening, and oddly enough I don’t find any errors in the log file. Here is what I get when I launch any N64 ROM:

    Glad you sorted it :-) The runcommand script switches the resolution down to VGA for better performance though I haven’t noticed any difference to be honest, maybe a small increase with N64/PSX emulation but nothing dramatic.

    yup the themes do go in /etc/emulationstation/themes but themes need to be remade, to be honest they are not too difficult once you get the hang of them (again) and I think there will be some good ones created,
    I’ll have a look into remaking that one you mentioned in the other thread

    I got my PS3 controller to work with it being plugged in by going to RetroPie-Setup location from the command line and then running the
    sudo ./retropie_setup.sh

    From there I chose option 3 and then ran option 322 to register my retroarch controller.

    Note: I did not chose the option to install the PS3 controller driver just running the register RetroArch controller option worked for me.

    I also didn’t do this with Bluetooth so I always have to have my PS3 controller plugged in.

    I also tested to see if I could play 2 player games with 2 PS3 controllers and I was able to both controllers worked fine and I’m pretty sure both were able to make use of the save state,load state,menu,and reset options I configured.

    As for N64 emulation I know that noone so far has gotten it running on versions 2.x (I don’t know about earlier versions I just started with version 2.1)

    For the themes I haven’t tried getting to set any of my own so I don’t know where to put them but I don’t think anyone has posted any new themes yet for version 2.x.

    I have tried editing the script and using the auto script to get the controller to work. I have additonally tried different wires and different controllers. I have tried switching from 1.x to 2.2. I have tried using a blue-tooth usb with the ps3 controllers. I have attempted to follow just about every guide on github for retropi and linux. Yet the Xbox360 controller works every time and does not even have to be configured to work in the emulationstation ui or in GBA or MAME4All. Does anyone have any suggestions? Correction, got it to work with USB now b/c I had the bluetooth USB plugged in and it as the sole controller. Going to try to register it as bluetooth now. Just tried to register it on bluetooth and got the error,

    Where is the default install of sixpair on retropi? and is this the reason for that error?

    I have tried just about every guide on github.

    My 2nd issue is Mupen64Plus that comes on retropie by default. It was giving me consistent errors and segmentation faults even when I recompiled or used a different version (earlier) of retropie. The specific issue I get upon trying to build is (standard input):87427: Error: undefined local label ‘/16959’
    Please submit a full bug report, with preprocessed source if appropriate.

    My 3rd issue is how can I add themes to retropie? I tried adding them to the theme folder @ /etc/emulationstation/themes and even though I have done this the images like backround does not show up…

    A 4th issue is how do I now that I have 2 controllers registered, use two when the config file only has 1 profile?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    TBH this is all very new to me. I have limited experience with Linux (Ubuntu) and less with emulators.

    I recall there being an option in setup (retropie setup, maybe raspi-config) to install xbox360 driver so i did that. Then i went to configure retroarch controller in the setup and followed the prompts (press this button, press that button), rebooted and it works in all of my emulators so far. No cmd line stuff or config files to manually edit.

    Still having this issue with the N64 emulator. trying to collect info from the console text as to why it opens and then shuts down. May play with config file for it.

    I got the exact same issue as you do with those games at the N64 emu.

    Quick question tho. How did you get your xbox360 controller to work right away?
    The only one I got working is GBA, would be awesome if you could share your SNES and PSX retroarch config!

    ok guys im out i tried every tutorial and followed every hint but cant get my xbox work with analog stick on snes
    and n64 emulator doesnt work since the 2.0 update

    mate at the moment the n64 is very touch n go, especially with the include emulator, there are tests being done on a newer version and it looks pretty cool! but as I said we may never have the pleasure of running every rom flawlessly I’m afraid to say, but hang in there

    Hello all. Im new just setup my pi last night. Got wifi/ssh working and xbox360 controller. Moved some roms to it for nes,snes,gbc,gba,n64, and psx. All work except n64.

    Any time i go to start a ROM for n64 the screen goes black for a few seconds, then back to command line briefly, then back to ES.

    I have a model B, 256 RAM split, no OC. I installed using the source option which took a long time. Currently connected are mouse/kb, 1x xbox360 controller, wifi dongle. HDMI to a HDTV.

    Ive tried Mario Cart, Super Smash Bros, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark. All behave the same way.

    Strange as the psx emulator seems to work fine which i thought would be a bigger issue.

    Any help/advice to troubleshoot this would be great. Not sure if there is a log file or a way to pause the screen before ES reloads. Thanks

    The only way to exit the emulator is by pressing esc on the keyboard. The configs are based on what game you want to play but there is a compatibility list that I am working on. The github is actually here. That is the one you want. The configs are in /root/.config/mupen64plus/mupen64plus.cfg. The gles2n64 video plugin config is in the home directory. The compatibility list is in the wiki of the github here, I am working on what games work with the current setup and trying to debug what I know I can fix with my limited knowledge.

    Ok, I did as nemo93 told be and used his config in the given location.

    When i Start SNES my config uses left trigger (upper left) to jump.
    A to go down, B to go up and neither select or start (or exit the game in any way works).

    Is there any other config files I have to change?

    i changed the one in /opt/retropie/configs/SNES/ to what Nemo93 sent me.

    Please help me with this! If I just can get one controller to work with GBA, SNES and N64 I will be super super happy.

    I have only made the standard installation and updates. No changes to any files or emulators what so ever except the config of SNES.

    hi waddupbeazt,

    I can help you only for SNES as of now as I didn’t play much with n64 and GBA. Enclosed to this post you’ll find a retroarch config file to be used for SNES. The mapping is accurate as far as I can tell and to exit Retroarch you have to press Select and Start.

    you have to copy this file to this location:

    /opt/retropie/configs/snes/

    hi Guys,

    @billipo: to play with metadata on the current EmulationStation 2.0 release could be tricky and lead to crash anytime you try manipulating the gamelist.xml file. A bug report has been filled by Aloshi himself (HERE). The good news is that Aloshi is implementing sqlite to get rid of this gamelist.xml file (instead it will be kind of small database, easier to manipulate and also use less resource).

    , smatticus, Grayson: don’t forget to include the following parameter in your /boot/config.txt if you’re using a newer firmware on your Pi (starting from firmwares/kernels after the 24th of May).

    as Grayson said I strongly advise you to run the emulators at the VGA resolution. Yet it’s definitely possible to run ES at 720p (1080p doesn’t work for me) and have the resolution to switch to VGA by playing with the “runcommand.sh <number>” script.
