Hey guys, hope you can help with my issue! I bought a mausberry switch to use the NES power and reset buttons for on and off. We got it soldered up according to these diagrams

https://plus.google.com/photos/+BryanBurnett/albums/5957076319930220449

and everything is in place, but I am getting no power when I hit the switch. Is there a step I am missing with this? Below I have included pictures of my setup so you can maybe see something I’m not. The Pi works fine when the Mausberry switch is removed and the Pi has a direct plugin.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Hi trk55449

I used this 4nes4snes circuit as well. Since version 2.5 / 2.6 the controller only recognizes 2 axis instead of 8. (before the circuit was recognized as a joystick with 8 axis and 32 buttons).

This seems to be a Problem with the newest generic joystick-driver.
Sadly i havn’t figured out yet how to downgrade the driver or how to get it to recognize 8 axis again.

for the working configuration you can have a look at my post: https://www.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/has-anyone-used-the-raphnet-4x-snesnes-usb-adapter-circuit/#post-87027

Please let me know if you figure out how to solve the problem ;)

Hi,

since I did not want to delete rom directories from the basic install of the retropie, I couldn’t test it.
Basically it’s one thing:
AFAIK, I can not mount nfs into a non-empty directory.

Another thing – when I want to have it portable to take it to a friend, I might not have my nfs share available (I don’t want to be dependent on having Internet available for a vpn) so I was thinking on having some rom folders on a USB drive, which mounts if I have no connection to my NAS.
That would be single mount or rom-specific.
Since I did not try that as well, I left the rom directories as-is.
That’s all.
If you get it to work, please let us know.

All the best,
erdnuesse

Hello, Has anyone tried using this controller with retropie 2.5? http://www.amazon.com/Hyperkin-Inc-Genesis-GN6-USB-Controller/dp/B00KX75UT6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1424876439&sr=8-2&keywords=gn6

I am running a Pi2 on version 2.5 trying to get this controller to work on megadrive emulator. It seems no matter what I change in the retroarch.cfg file. The button assignments do not change. the directional pad started to work after I ran the update that says it takes 16 hours to complete. Before the only left to right would work. I suspect the emulator is pulling the controller config from somewhere else. as I have copied moved/changed the retroarch file several times. Using the configurator and manually switching assignments. I hope I am missing a step somewhere and if someone would be so kind to help me out here. I’ve hit a wall with next steps to troubleshoot.

Thanks

When you do a command like this:
sudo ./retroarch-joyconfig -j 0 >> /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

It hardcodes your controller to the retroarch file – which itself is probably set to read the auto files. These guides should help you sort out multiple controllers:

I decided to go on and close this one out because it doesn’t seem to be unique to the RetroPie Project’s images. I downloaded the latest Raspbian image and installed the Python program there. I got the same results. I can only assume that a recent Raspbian update broke the program.

I ended up falling back to the shell script provided by Mausberry. I had to bump up my overclock settings to compensate for the script’s CPU drain but things seem to be working now.

Really I guess I should try writing my own shutdown script. Maybe this will serve as a motivator to finally learn Python…

I get the same black screen behaviour.

• PI2
• 2.6.0 image
• Amiga forever roms
• NES-like usb joypad from retrolink

Haven’t tested if it works without the joypad connected, but will do so this weekend…

What version of retropie did you use for this?

when i went to copy the cfgs across the directories where different.
I don’t have a configs folder in /home/pi/RetroPie but theres one in /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup. so i copyed the files across into there but the controllers only seem to work in the Emulation station interface and when i try to play a game they don’t work.

I’m using Retropie v2.3
with 2 joytech PSX Dual Analogue Controllers like this
-> http://www.oneswitch.org.uk/IMAGES/4/DIY/joypad/01.jpg
and the Dual usb adapter mentioned
Any Ideas?
I just tried to install the experimental version and it failed right away:
Are you using RetroPie 2.6.0? It is currently working for me.

I recently built my Pi2 fresh from the 2.6.0 image. After learning about the new libretro version of gpsp I grabbed it from the experimental section, threw the bios in /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS, and it just simply worked from there for me (Using a USB SNES controller from GTRON). The only other thing to note is that I have mine overclocked to 1000 MHz using raspi-config’s “Pi2” option. I left all of my other settings alone.

I’ve just purchased a Retrolink USB dual port SNES adapter, and come to find out that you can’t map Up and Left with it. I’ll probably keep it since it works great with my PC, but I want to purchase another adapter that will work on with RetroPie.

Any suggestions on a great USB adapter that works with RetroPie?

Something to add.
if you add
sudo ~/./sixpair
to /usr/bin/emulationstation along with the changes suggested by chyczewski you can pair your PS3 controllers on boot up just like the PS3. I’ve tested it on about 9 different controllers and it worked consisently. Pluging up 2 3 at a time. (1 usb port reserved for BT dongle)

This is a great project! I’ve got most everything working. I have seen some slight irregularities with some games. It seems that on some side scroller games, the game will automatically move to the right without me touching the controller.

I’m using the Buffalo Classic USB Gamepad for PC. http://www.amazon.com/Buffalo-Classic-USB-Gamepad-PC/dp/B002B9XB0E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1424808309&sr=8-1&keywords=buffalo+snes+controller

Other games work fine. I only configured the controller for emulation station when I first setup my retropie. The RetroArch controllers were automatically recognized and worked with configuration. I saw the above issue, so I tried manually configuring the controllers too. Either way, I’m seeing the same issue.

Anybody seen this before? Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot and move forward?

Thanks!

I have 2.6 version. Some reason only some of button works. I bought a joystick kit from eBay, it was recognized as the DragonRise Inc.Generic USB Joystick.

The Joystick and only the exit and the menu button works correctly, the rest of the 6 buttons doesn’t to anything.

I have configured RetroArch and those emulators which runs through that works just fine.

Did you do anything to modify settings? I can’t find any file I could modify.

I have the same problem with the PS3 controller. The games wont load if it is connected either via bluetooth or usb. When I disconnect the games load. However in game I am not able to anything as I have apparently not been able to configure any controls for the emulator.
I would much appreciate if anyone can point me in the right direction to where I might learn more about the controls for this emulator and how to configure.

I’m loading my ROMs in to my new setup. However, where do I put Sega Genesis ROMs? I have gone the route of putting in a USB stick to my Pi to create the folder directory and am now loading ROMs onto the USB drive, but there’s no folder that looks like it would fit for Sega Genesis . . . ?

I see the following possible folders:
sega32x
segacd

I think I just about have everything sorted however one last problem has me baffled. When I use the PCEngine emulator mednafenpcefast, whenever I push the Start button on my joypad (a Saturn USB pad) it seems to toggle between 2 and 6 buttons mode as well as pausing the game. I can’t see anything obvious in the configs and it only happens with mednafenpcefast. Has anyone else seen this?

Okay, I have some more info that might be able to help find the solution, I dug around in /opt/retropie/configs/n64/ and found InputAutoCfg.ini. In that file is the joypad mappings for the usb controller. I also noticied that when I plug in the controller it does not say it is configured at the bottom, only that it is plugged in. I’m guessing that means that retroarch does not run this .ini when I plug in the controller? Looking in the retroarch config folder I can’t find the N64’s config there. Am I getting close?

I’m using the RetroLink N64 USB, RetroPie 2.6, and RPi2. Loading N64 games through RetroArch renders the joypad usesless, I can only control the game with the keyboard. I’ve tested the joypad and it works loading the game through MupenPlus. RetroArch successfully takes the input when playing SNES or GBA games, so this seems strange. Any thoughts? Anyone run into this?

In this tutorial I will show you my complete setup on my Pis these can be adjusted for either Pi 1 or Pi 2 only differences will be the minor adjustment of the overclock settings if you so choose to do so. This tutorial is recommended to be used with a PlayStation 3 controller whether wireless or wired but will assume you want it wireless using a usb bluetooth adapter. This tutorial assumes you know how to either login to your Pi via putty or through the Pi directly.

The scripts provided will setup your Pi to run the following emulators.

Genesis
Game Gear
GameBoy
GameBoy Advance
GameBoy Color
Sega32x
SegaCD
PlayStation
Nintendo
Super Nintendo
Nintendo 64

Everything will and can be completed in 4 quick steps. From start to finish I was able to complete in less then 20mins only using 4 scripts and using a gui 3 times. I will break the codes down for the post but will provide quick and easy copy and paste scripts. You will need to provide your own roms and manually upload them but everything else is streamlined.

One option that might work is to symlink the ~/RetroPie/roms directory to the usb drive’s roms directory.
something like:

$ sudo rm -rf ~/RetroPie/roms
$ ln -s /media/usb/roms ~/RetroPie/roms

There is also a USB ROM service under in the setup script
sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh
Under setup you’ll see the option. This appears to install a hook into the usbmount service so that when you plug in a usb drive it attempts to sync that with your local roms directory. I haven’t used it so don’t know how well it works and it isn’t quite what you wanted.

I was wondering if it is possible to run retro pi through an SD card but keep my roms on a USB flash drive. I’m not sure if it is possible but I would assume it would just mean redirecting the areas that it looks for roms? This way I would not have to re upload roms every time I format and such. I trial and error alot

No the Odroid-w is a clone of the raspberry pi right down to the software so i just used the pi image. Thanks, I’ll try the power supply as I’m only using the Micro USB cable to get the power I need.

HDMI cable works fine as it works just fine with my Model B+ Raspberry Pi. Remember, I have all this working just fine and dandy on the Model B+. Although, I didn’t try the RetroPie 2.6 installation on the Model B+. But that’s not really my issue.

For some reason, whenever I turn on my Raspberry Pi, it’s not recognizing my games on my flash drive I need to add. I tested to make sure the drive was functional, and yes, I could navigate through it on the console. Please give me some troubleshooting tips, as sometimes the ROMs will update and appear and sometimes they won’t.

It feels really close to the (european) originals of Nintendo. But sometimes when I leave Emulationstation in the menu and go to the kitchen or so, there is another item selected when I come back to the screen.

In Games I sometimes (very rare) died because my player walked one super tiny step to the side. But till now I didn’t realize that this all is related to the controller. Has anyone looked deeper into it? My short google search brought this to my attention:

This is so sad. The best SNES-linke controller out there obviously has electric problems. Any ideas how to fix that?

One other funny thing: The serial numbers of my two iBuffalo Gamepads are both A41130. ;-)

I wanted to see if any Mausberry Switch users have had any problems with the latest versions of the RetroPie card images. Specifically when used on an RPi B+.

I have the use your own switch shutdown circuit and am using this Python GPIO monitoring daemon to handle the shutdown request from the shutdown circuit.

This setup was working well in the 2.1 images and below. However, I recently installed the 2.5 image and found that it no longer worked. The same issue is occurring with the 2.6 (I performed a clean install from scratch to rule out any setup mistakes on my part).

I’ve also run some tests to make sure that this isn’t being caused by a hardware issue. I took a clean (non-RetroPie) card image I have and installed the switch daemon there. It worked fine.

I’m not really sure how to go about trouble shooting this on the software side. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

I’m using the iBuffalo usb joypad, and after some menu screens in the PSX emulator (it varies on how many screens there are in the game) the joypad stops working. At this point, I can only control the game with a keyboard. When I first load the game the joypad works fine. Has this happened to anyone else? Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
