Hey all,
I was hoping for some help…I got RetroPi up and running, updated, roms uploaded, they all work great but now I’m struggling with my USB PS2 controller.
I some how messed up the config of the controller when I first launched RetroPi… I.E. When Emulationstation runs for the first time, it takes you through a controller configuration screen.
So the up button works as done and none of the other buttons works.
I went bouncing through /home/pi/retro pi/configs/all/retroarch.com but couldn’t seen to find what I was looking for to fix this.
I ran a jstest /dev/input/js0 and the USB PS2 controller is conected/feeding data/etc
I have all of the values of pressing each button if needed.
So how do I reconfigure the controller? Is there a command I can enter to get back to that screen? Or do I need to edit specific values in a specific file manually to fix it?
And hopefully if other people run into this down the line, then this will help it come up in Google…

Topic: Roms not Starting
I’ve installed the latest version of Raspbian “wheezy” from here…
http://www.raspberrypi.org/downloadsOnce it was imaged I Resize the filesystem and Setup 128MB memory split.
I’ve went through the instructions on how to setup RetroPie from here…
https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-SetupI’ve gone through the binary-based installation.
After all that I setup my USB NES Controller, FTP’d in some NES and SNES games into their respected roms folders, rebooted and when I go to choose a game I get a quick flash to the command line that shows two lines of = “Equals signs” and it kicks me back to EmulationStation. I have tried a variety of different roms (i.e. Super Mario Bros, Contra III, Super Metroid, BattleToads, ect…) for both the NES (.nes) and SNES (.smc) but only came back with equal signs…
I’ve seen these roms work with the RetroPie image Version 1.5 from…
https://www.petrockblock.com/download/retropie-project-image/…but they aren’t working with the updated version of RetroPie.
If I could get some help as to why I’m getting lines of “================” instead of lines of retro beauty that would be most appreciated.
Sorry to bother you guys again.
I got my RetroPie set up and everything and currently i am running it with 1 Xbox 360 Gamepad (Wired) and 1 USB-Keyboard connected. When playing a game, i can press the ESC-key on the keyboard to get back to the emulator main menu, but can i do the same thing with some sort of controller button combination? I’ve tried countless combinations, but nothing works so far. (e.g. l3 + r3, holding several buttons for a few seconds, select+start+LT+RT, and so on)
I’m asking this, because i’m planing on using the RetroPie with 2 360 Pads and without keyboard.
Thanks in advance,
sauerkrautI’ve been having enough trouble with the analog audio output (with crackling and popping sound, weird whining noises, and occasionally no sound at all) that I’m thinking about adding a USB audio output device to my setup. Has anybody tried a USB audio device with RetroPie? Is there any chance that audio performance might be better with a USB audio device than with the built in analog audio output?
Topic: Stuck at splash screen
Hi all, I have installed the RetroPie image, copied over my NES roms and configured my NES controller. My controller is an origional NES controller that is connected using a RetroPort USB plug. However, when I boot up the Pi, I just see the ‘RetroPie’ splash screen. The controller doesn’t do anything, aside from shut down the Pi if I hit ‘Start’ 5 times.
Is there some step I’m missing in getting everything set up ?
Thanks,
Brian
Here is my shopping list for setting up the RaspberryPi to run the RetroPie Project
RaspberryPi (I ´ve got the Model B, REV 2.0, 512MB)
Power supply with Micro-USB (5V, 1200mA)
Case for the RaspberryPi (lots of out there)
SDHC class 10 memorycard with at least 8GB memory
Trust Bluetooth 3.0 USB Adapter (only needed for a bluetooth controller like the PS3 SIXAXIS controller)
KeyboardHello!
I’m currently building an arcade machine and I’m using the iPac VE keyboard encoder. I’ve looked at the iPac keycode table and mapped my settings in ~/RetroPie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg accordingly. Although, the buttons doesn’t seem to take effect.
My iPac is plugged in together with a regular keyboard over a powered USB-hub.
The iPac uses keys like Left shift, left control and left alt for player one but I don’t know how to bind these to retroarch. So far I’ve been using lshift and lalt, but it doesn’t work.
Any ideas?

Thanks bro and sis :)Hi,
first of all, sorry if my choice of words is a little weird, I’m from germany :)I have troubles setting up a second controller. I’m using a USB-to-SNES-adapter with two ports for two controllers.
The setup for the menu-control works fine, I am able to navigate trough the menu with both controllers without any problems.
I changed the retroarch.cfg file by copy- and pasting the configurations of the first controller (that already works fine in games) and changing the index to “1” and “player1” to “player2” what should be correct, right? Now to the weird part:
Controller 2 does NOT work unless I press any button of controller 1 at the same time. That is the only way that controller 2 does react at all while I’m in a game. Again, controller 1 and 2 work fine in the menu independent of each other.
When I swap the index-numbers of the controllers in the retroarch.cfg file they still do the same thing but swapped (controller 1 works only if any button on controller 2 is pressed). That makes me guess this is a settings-problem and not a hardware-problem.Has anyone an solution to this?? I’m falling into despair… :)
Topic: XArcade + USB keyboard
Hey all, my current setup is an XArcade dual joystick paired with a USB keyboard. I’ve finally gotten the XArcade to work with EmulationStation, but am having trouble configuring it with RetroArch. I believe this has to do with the fact that I have two USB input devices (The XArcade and Keyboard) plugged into the Pi. This is being interpreted as two USB keyboards. Is there a way to, in the .cfg file, setup a second keyboard? If so, what is the syntax?
Thanks

Topic: Doom
I have doom and doom 2 working with a USB controller however I cannot figure out how to change weapons during the game. The keyboard and the USB controller both do not seem to work. I’m sure I’m missing something really obvious. Anyone else have this issue? I’m using a wireless keyboard. I also was able to get my controllers setup for other emulators and have not had too much trouble doing so.
