I’m not at home, so I can’t try it myself, but wether try this or just double the Inputs:

input_player1_a_btn = 5
input_player1_a_btn = 6
input_player1_b_btn = 4

But I don’t know if it works. The only Thing I know is that it’s not possible to do this for mupen64plus (http://code.google.com/p/mupen64plus/issues/detail?id=571).

Hi guys!

First off, thanks for this amazing Project!
I got my retropie-project up and running, still fine-tuning mupen64plus though.
I’m using 2 gamepads “Speedlink Torid”, which is pretty much a xbox360-controller clone (http://www.amazon.de/dp/B00I96CWQ2/ref=twister_B00PIS8MBI?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1).
Everything works fine, but the “playernumber-led” is showing player1 on both gamepads.
Does anybody know how I could change this led-setting (like in the xboxdrv driver)?

Thank you!

Hi,

I’m not at home right now, so I can’t look it up myself: AFAIK is OC-setting “pi2” the only one that makes sense for pi2, because the other are even “underpowered” for the pi2’s hardware.
So if you use pi2 OC-Setting, at least Mario64 and Mariokart64 (Singleplayer) should work out of the box with mupen64plus. I’m still fine-tuning to make more games work smooth as in https://www.petrockblock.com/forums/topic/mupen64plus-ricrpi-branch/page/3/ .

Rumblesupport is a point I would be very interested too.

How do you setup emulation station to use mupen64plus-testing once you get it built?

The save path is most likely in ~/.local/share/mupen64plus/save/

I’m getting a “Bus Error” error whenever I try to load a any save games. Are you experiencing the same?

Same procedure as every day… ;-)

-Close emulationstation with F4
-Type:

cd RetroPie-Setup
sudo git pull
sudo ./retropie_setup.sh

Select experimental packages
Select Mupen64plus-testing

It will not compile atm. Mupen64plus-core is broken but a fix is already on the way.

Update RetroPie-Setup script and install experimental/mupen64plus-testing. There will be at least two new rom folders /rom/n64-gles2rice and /rom/n64-gles2n64. Use gles2rice for zelda games. Use gles2n64 for mario64, mario kart and super smash brothers.

Mupen64plus-testing is broken atm but should be fixed soon.

I recently got RetroPie set up to run Super Smash Bros. and Majora’s Mask, and they both seem very slow and glitchy. I am using the standard n64 folder, not the other one.

Super Smash Bros.: I get on to see the logos just fine, and Master Hand appears. He goes into the chest in the intro scene and everything freezes. No big deal, because the game clips back to dragging Link on the desk. But then Link becomes entirely black, so does Master Hand. After that, he does his normal countdown, and instead of the character pictures flashing, I see them all at once in a solid state just staring there. Can’t do anything.

Majora’s Mask: Again, logo runs fine, but no intro happens. No sounds or anything. I hit the start button to hear the sound slow and glitchy, and no Majora’s Mask logo appears. I hit start again, but only to come to a slow and sound glitched file menu, and the background’s sky box’s (as I call it) texture hasn’t loaded correctly.

If anyone could offer any help or give me a config file to replace the old one to make it less of what it is above, please send me a comment. I would appreciate a quick one if possible, as I need to get off soon.

Can anyone help me with finding my mupen64plus super mario 64 save game?

the mupen64plus.cfg file says it saves here: ${UserConfigPath}/save

but i don’t know where it is and thus can’t retrieve my in game saves, which disappeared when i messed with the settings.

I think it is as it is with the Pi 1. The best way to speed up PSX is to get a Pi 2. N64 isn’t even perfect at the Pi 2 yet!

Could be you use another zelda rom ;-). Open /opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg and set ScreenUptaeMode=7 under video-rice section.

I have a few questions for experienced members
I can run several games but they are all noticeably slower then the originals. I have retropie 2.6 SD image installed on raspberry pi model B, 128 gpu ram and OC set to HIGH using raspi-config. I also have speed issues on n64 ( i can run games but they are slower then the originals). Is there any way i can improve this? Is SD image auto set up for use of PCSX rearmed for psx emulator or do i have to set it up manually, and will it improve psx game speed?

Kind regards

Hey guys.
Im pulling my Hair out to get Zelda OoT to work.

Im running a Pi2 with the Pi2 Overclock settings.
Im using the Pal version of the Rom (D,F,E)

First i tried with the normal emulator that came with the 2.6.0 Immage. the rom wouldt even start up. after that i Installed the Experimental version via the Setup Script and the Rom did start and i was able to start a new game. The intro didnt show ANY Dialoge but i could advance by pessing A during the audio cues (without any mayor visible lags i might add, sound was ok aswell) As Soon as i entered the real game the game video just Froze, i could hear that my imput still worked (pulling up menue sound etc).

Anyone got Zelda to run? how did you configure it / what changes must be made?

(Mario 64 and Kart works without a problem)

The emulator specific configurations override the ones in all/Retroarch.cfg.

havent tried it on systems that doesnt require specific configuration (gba, n64) anyway though.

yep works like a charm. mupen64plus uses a diffrent controll set as above, and it worked out of the box with the n64 controller adapter. you might have to reassign some of the buttons on a gc controller but defently doable

Hello,
I’ve tried to set up the new 2.6 sd-card image with some emulators (GBA/GBC/GB/N64/PSX), but only gpSP is able to use my controller (Saitek P880), as it uses it’s own configuration settings. All of the other emulators don’t seem to recognize my controller correctly and only allow me to use the key which I’ve assigned to the A button for emulationstation.
After many hours reading through the wiki and searching the forum I’m still clueless what to do. (I’ve already tried to use the “Register RetroArch controller” option from the setup script, but it didn’t change anything for me)

Update: If you set 1080p now gles2n64 keeps aspect now. There is also a video stretch option now.

Since the N64 controller works, does the c stick on it work? Cause I am mostly going to use it for N64 games, and that is pretty important for that.

emulationstation should (if the drivers are included) work out of the box (use the gui controller config option)

and for configuring controllers for (most) of the emulators use this guide (from point 8 forward, point 10 describes how to add a hotkey to enable quiting the emulator/saving/loading)

Updated for 2.3: Step-by-Step Guide

some systems like gba and n64 (at least i know about those 2) will need a special configuration but most will work just fine with this guide

i use both Mayflash Snes and N64 controller Adapters (or Huijia usb gamepad as its called by Linux).
Dont see a reason why the Gamecube one shouldt work. Basicly all Buttons get recognised out of the box just have to configure the keymapping for Retroarch.

Edit : also 2 Players work aswell. just have to configure via the Retroarch with
cd /opt/retropie/emulators/RetroArch/tools
sudo ./retroarch-joyconfig -j 0 -p 1 >> /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
sudo ./retroarch-joyconfig -j 1 -p 2 >> /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

Bump

After Migrating to a Rpi2 and Setting up a new REtropie 2.6 built i still experience the issue. Everything works fine as long as i keep it 12 active emulators shown or less (same as i had with rpi B). At first i Removed Ports and Added N64 and everything was working. as soon as i added ports back the issue occured again. After clearing a diffrent rom folder (atari2600 since i hardly ever played them/ will play again) everything was working fine again.

I would say with the Rpi2 (and overclock setting set to Pi2) Memory should defently be out of question here.
something seems to be wrong with ES.

You can also assign a hotkey on a diffrent controller your not using. (I got 2 snes and 2 n64 controllers hooked up. i have all my Hotkeys on the snes controller while only using the n64 controllers inside mupen64plus)

The Video herbfargus posted explains it pretty good where to set the Hotkeys.
Ok not to be rude but let’s act like I know what an emulator is I am using .smc for the snes and .z64 .v64 for n64.

If you read the entire post I was saying the raspberry pi said there is no file/directory also the editor was a black file
I don’t think anyone suggested you didn’t know what an emulator was – they were giving you information on supported file extensions, and then information on the correct location of the interfaces file which you seemed to have not picked up on. I recommend you read through the advice given carefully.

Regarding the black screen – you edited the wrong file/path. You probably made a typo. You said you were editing “/ect/network/interface” – there is no file of that name. Network settings are in “/etc/network/interfaces”

You can configure wireless easily as with the post above.

I’m having some trouble with my audio, and was wondering if anyone had any advice. I can confirm that it is the emulator, as my others (SNES, GBA, GB, GBC etc.) all sound fine. I have the experimental package of mupen64plus, and the emulators run at full speed, with no hiccups, but my Mario Kart 64 for example has wonky sound. It’s not the only rom with broken up sound. Anything under mupen64plus.cfg that i can modify to correct that?
Turns out it was a power problem, my pi wasn’t getting enough power, and the sound was going awry.

Thanks for the video. worked great for me.

other problems i had / kinda solved :
– using a usb snes and a usb n64 adapter wich has the same name kinda screws with emulationstation. i can just configure emulationstation to use either the snes or n64 controllers

– gpsp uses J0 as default. i would need j2 though. started a specific topic for that HERE

– having more then 12 system still f*$*s up emulationstation (i think i just have to accept that)

– set up kody but struggeling to get my snes controllers (j2 & j3) working within cody. asked for a guide here HERE

-begged zoid for a Kodi background HERE :D

if anyone has an idea on the first 4 problems thanks in advance :-)

Generally speaking the only emulators that work with zip files are mame and FBA.the rest will need to be unzipped.if you configured your controllers with the retroarch config tool in the set up script and they still aren’t working it might be good to check and make sure your the folders you placed your ROMs in are utilising retroarch cores. If they aren’t they may have their own separate configs (I.e. GBA, FBA, mame, mupen64plus, etc.) I’ve made a few videos on youtube going step by step on what I did when I set up my pi, but my controllers may be different than yours- floob has some good videos that are much more thorough than mine which may be useful to you.

Just to clarify. At least mupen64plus-testing supports a joypad exit button. Open /opt/retropie/configs/n64/mupen64plus.cfg and add your joypad. If you have a PS3 controller the assignement for the PS button is for example “J0B16” (Joystick 0, Button 16).

Hey mate,
I just succeeded in this problem.
I just made a complete binary update yesterday and, after completely reconfiguring my controllers for mupen64plus, I can now successfully save and load. Maybe give that a try. Takes a few hours, but totally worth it.
Oh, and maybe back up your mupen64 .cfg and input-file before you do that.

Hi everybody,

i just bought a raspberry pi 1 from amazon nad fired retropie on it.

after a couples days of testing i achieved playable NES,SNES and MAME emulation. Mame is choppy sometimes but playable.

I tested some N64 games and they were slow

Then i tested some psx games (spyro 1,crash team racing, metal gear solid 1) and theyu where reeeeeally slow, unplayable.

i overclocked to turbo but nothing changed!

is there a way to smooth things up? i always used the stock retropie emulators.

My only hope is to upgrade to RPI 2?

thank you

i just reran the updates with the binaries and everything is back to normal!!! thank you!

one comment, N64 seems supper laggy with the audio. Should i investigate in the forums for audio fixes or is there something simple i have to do?

Hey Guys, so first time post here after spending several hours reading threads nothing is clear. I updated everything via source yesterday took 16 hours… I already had roms loaded for NES, SNES, Genesis, and N64. All of which were working (except I didnt test any n64 roms prior to update).

Now i see all my roms listed but none of them load for any system. What did i do wrong? When i launch the rom some lines in terminal scroll and the screen resolution changes with smaller terminal lines then it kicks back into emulation station.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
