    Karl,
Did you ever figure this out? My pi is doing the exact same thing. One minute everything is fine, the next minute, no controllers detected.

I’ve had multiple kdb issues all due to sony sd cards. Some sd cards are very susceptible to corruption. Try a transcend, I have yet to have any corruption issues with them.

No you misunderstood…where are the files actually located if I were to copy them from cyberduck?

Ok so I tried 2.2 today for the first time…I like a lot of the improvements, but a couple things bugged me.
1.) I had no menu sounds whatsoever…is this normal?
2.) When scrolling games, there’s no “jump to a letter” anymore, just page up/down. Wtf?
3.) I spent a lot of time making my own themes, but since the new themes folder is located in etc/, I have to go back thru all my xml’s to change the paths manually. Also the art folders changed from gb_art to just art (gameboy as an example), so now I have to change those paths as well. Why did these paths all have to be changed? It makes it a lot more complicated when transferring from 1.9.1!
So I have a question: where do I find the new emulator menu so I can copy that over to my old version? I love 2.2, but I’m not so sure it’s worth all the hassle.

I found a set of nes boxart as a torrent using vuze, but I just manually scraped everything and added the ones es-scraper didn’t catch. Yes, it takes forever, but you only have to do it once

Check your gamelist.xml from cyberduck to see if it was completed and closed out properly. If an xml file is not perfect, it won’t read at all, which is what I’m guessing to be the problem…I had a problem once with es scraper where it would not finish the gamelist because of a simple little é for the game André Agassi tennis. Apparently the é caused the program to crash and not complete the gamelist from that game on, which is how I figured it out. Check your games to make sure none of them have any of those unique symbols.

So I figured it out finally…if anyone needs help with why savestates won’t work: check the permissions on the roms themselves! For some reason when the roms were put in a separate folder, the permissions were changed to read only. I used cyberduck to open the rom hacks folder, highlighted all the rom hacks, hit GET INFO, and clicked on the permissions tab…once they were all changed, it worked like a charm. Fuck yeah!

I use a 128GB sd card…I prefer the use of both USB ports for controllers…I’ve got over 8250 games including 178 PSX roms, if they made a bigger sd card, I would buy it…go big, or go home!

Ok so I just tried it with my snes controllers…I was able to play 1 player against the CPU…did you have a player 2 plugged into the bottom USB port? I wasn’t able to choose pad 2 until I had the 2nd controller plugged in. If it’s not that, I would suggest finding another rom

I think there’s another option in boot/config.txt that says something about Increasing hdmi output. I would try that.

I can’t help you with the xbox controller settings, since is use a snes usb controller, but it can tell you that duke nukem and doom do not come ready to play…you have to find the doom .wad files online as well as the duke nukem duke3d.grp file. It sounds to me like your controller cfg file didn’t save right, I’ve had them delete to 0 bytes for no reason quite often…check it from SFTP to be sure.

Open up /boot/config.txt and uncomment #hdmi_drive=2 then try again using an hdmi cord.

Btw I try to do all my work via SFTP, rather than type in commands if I can. So is there a way to change owner and/or group of the folders via SFTP?

I don’t know what all that jazz means ^^
Me jarhead, me not know Linux. I learned everything I know by reading these forums, so if you could…please break it down for me Barney Style?
Btw I also have a rom hack folder within the snes roms, and those hacks will save/load, so I’m assuming there is something going on specifically with the nes. Is there a specific config file that controls save states and which folders it will allow it from?

Ok so I figured it out for anyone else trying to activate their controller:
    1. Open a game
    2. Type ~ (the key to the left of the 1) to open console
    3. Type: in_joystick 1

This will activate the joystick, then you can proceed to the menu to configure the button layout.

I used a program called file renamer. It’s freeware and it fixes all that crap quickly. I also, however manually scraped everything anyways because the es_scraper has lots of flaws in terms of choosing the wrong game. You’ll see what I mean when you have dozens of repeat titles all because a game had a common word in it or is a sequel. Yes, it’s a long and tedious process, but you only have to do it once, then save all your boxart and gamelists.xml’s to your PC.

I noticed that if you are using all the space on your sd card it will automatically delete some configuration files or XML files. Use df -h to see how much space you have and if you’re using 100%, try freeing up a gig, reconfigure your snes controller, them try again.

I’m also trying to get the Neogeo to work via pifba with no joy. I have put the neogeo.zip bios in the neogeo roms folder, fba roms folder, the bios folder, and I changed the path in es_systems.cfg to fba like how crystalj said but still no joy. This is driving me nuts…All I get is the little white dot in the center for a couple seconds, then back to the menu. I’m about to just give up-unfortunately, I know it’s probably something stupid so I can’t let it go.

Are you using a 4 gig sd card? That’s not enough space from my experience…the retropie image takes up most of that space all by itself…try at least an 8gig, resize it, then try again
