So you say it works in Software mode ? I don’t have any time to check at the moment. I did notice on the RisidualVM Github that there were a couple of attempts at fixing OpenGL but obviously hasn’t fixed it yet and that was 2 weeks ago (or possibly an error in the setup script ?)
AnonymousInactive
Ok, I got it to load by changing the render mode to software in the ResidualVM settings GUI.
The game speed is very playable, but the intro was very choppy.

I’m getting the exact same error. Fresh install of ResidualVM on a clean install of RetroPie 3.6.
I’m using good grim game data I’ve verified and used with Residual on the PC
Hi, I created the ResidualVM script for RetroPie. I literally just followed what the scummvm page said to do and it worked first go (this was before the residualvm page was created).
Here’s how my directory is laid out:
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/residualvm/
|
+ grim /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/residualvm/grim/
|
+ All *.LAB files /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/residualvm/grim/*.LAB
+ GRIM.TAB /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/residualvm/grim/GRIM.TAB
+ gfupd101.exe /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/residualvm/grim/gfupd101.exe
Run ResidualVM, click on Add Game, select the /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/residualvm/grim/. At this point, it will create /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/residualvm/grim-win.svm which will get picked up by EmulationStation. If not, edit /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg and add the .svm and .SVM extensions.
Within the ResidualVM GUI, disable full screen (which will make it full screen for some reason) and set the rendering mode to Software instead of OpenGL for speed.

I just had the same problem, but I was messing around with installing a different version of ResidualVM by modifying the script. I am currently reinstalling ResidualVM as I type this using the default script to test again.
As the topic says. I’m using a Pi 2 and RetroPie v3.5. I have the 3 games that work fine on the PC version of ResidualVM. When on the RetroPie version, I add the game directories then when starting a game it checks the files, successful, then exits back to EmulationStation. It does this on all three games. Does this work for anyone else ?
I ran “sudo ./retropie_packages.sh residualvm configure”
Still getting the same ol’ B.S.
I installed the Gog edition(s), copied the contents from the install folder directly to the game folder on the Pi.
The file structure looks like the Linux release btw.
Gog is the most accessible release of these titles to date, I doubt many will be coming here using any other distribution of the game.
cd RetroPie-Setup
sudo ./retropie_packages.sh residualvm configure
There was a path issue with the residualvm settings so hopefully that was resolved.
This theme should be the RetroPie default. Very good work.
Can you add Game & Watch to the list please ? It’s very polished emulation.
also ResidualVM (although I haven’t managed to get any of the 3 games to work on RetroPie, it just exits back to EmulationStation, they work on the PC version).
And possibly Daphne just because it’s missing, I tried Dragon’s Lair and it didn’t look very smooth on Pi2 (might be because I used the M-HD version), and Space Ace Enhanced didn’t work.
Thanks man, it works now. :)
Never relised, how much sesitive mess is, about names and correct crc cheksum for each game and thats makes all the trouble.
I noticed ini file for each individual system in roms/BIOS/mame folder, but it contain much less content for settings, than full MAME/MESS.
Also I want to tweak some video option to gain more speed, but cant find those sections.
Maybe I need to make those changes in retroarch settings?
Id like particulary to get full speed for galaxy computer, but for now I only acheive about 60%, which is quite unusable.
Is it possible to do something about this.
Once again, thank you very much, your answer was very useful.
Press select on the game and scroll down to edit metadata. It lets you do it for individual games. If that doesn’t work, make a manual entry in the proper folder, as referenced above.

Ok. I didn’t see it there the first time. Looks good! But now we need Adventure Game Studios (ags) and ResidualVM.
looks like this might be fixed now? https://github.com/libretro/libretro-fba/pull/63
you’ll have to install the individual emulator from source via retropie-setup. let us know if it works!
if you have no luck, lr-mame2003 runs this game and allows saving to nvram.
Exactly. With the stock image, I don’t have to restart. If there’s a performance boost to not launching through Emulation Station to get into OpenElec (and rather forcing a full restart of my pi via the dual boot to clean launch Kodi) then for me a perf boost dual boot is worth having over the stock retropie sd image. I suppose I should drop into ssh and list out system resources. Playback using stock retropie ported Kodi is pretty solid. Just wondering if I can’t take advantage of some plug in’s or if there’s something more I’m missing.
Thanks for the reply.
Hello, first I want to thank you all for this project.
Iv’e been following the retropie forums for a while now, and i have found almost every answer to my problems. Almost all but this one>
Im using Retropie Image 3.0 on a Model 2b Rpi. I have a JUYA0 DUAL Arcade Joysticks connected through usb, with 6 buttons. I used ‘usbquirks’ on the ‘cmdline’ to make it work (similar to the Xin mo Controller).
I bough another illuminated button To add a dedicated “exit” button to my build. I connected the button’s microswitch to the controller board and it works fine.
The Problem comes when i try to power the 12v bulb that’s inside the illuminated button. I connected the 5v pin and Grnd pin from the RPI to the bulbs contacts for power supply, it works, the button illuminates when i power the RPI. The problem is that retropie won’t boot up, it keeps resetting and trying to boot up again, on an endless loop. It has something to do with the power im giving the bulb, because as soon as I stop giving it power, the boot completes the process and Retropie starts normally.
I tried giving it power through a USB cable, disarming the cable and using the power wires (red and Black), it didn’t work, no light in the bulb. But strangely, the same boot problem occurs, looping all the time, but without the bulb turned on.
Do I Have to write some code for this button to be illuminated all the time?
Is it a power supply problem? Do i have to buy a power supply with more AMp?
Can the PI power an illuminated button while using retropie? or is it not possible?
PLeas help me!
Thank you all in advance for your answers.
S
Basic question. What is the primary advantage of installing the dual boot image with Openelec on a separate partition rather than running the standard RetroPie image in a single partition and installing the port for KODI. Is it to avoid process contention or produce smoother playback? Thanks for any replies.
I have retropi 3.5 on a rpi2 using a xinmo th dual arcade usb and have added the 2 player quirk and kernel 20150818. I am seeing 2 joypads now, but have no right or down on either joystick. What have I missed? Losing my mind here
I’m using wheezy so i’m not sure if that has something to do with it. Forced to use it atm since the dualboot image of rasplex i found is wheezy only.
Update: left it building overnight on Jessie 3.6…it also fails.

The email I received yesterday which revealed the Pi 3 mentioned that the new 64 bit ARM CPU was chosen in part for its 32 bit performance.
I would expect/hope that the existing Raspbian, and RetroPie, should install and run, and benefit from the enhanced clock speeds, if the GPU has no compatibility issues – I see that the Pi 3 GPU is now dual core.
Certainly rebuilds of the o/s, and individual emulators, to take advantage of the 64bit CPU, and perhaps updated gfx plugins, would reap the most benefits, but the new CPU is considerably faster than the best overclock performance I can get from my Pi 2.
Fingers crossed
Can i buy a Raspberry Pi 3, and then use my RP2 SD card in it? I’m running dual-boot RetroPie 3.5 and OpenELEC 6.0.1
Side note: I’ve overclocked the RP2. Will this config.txt interfere with RP3 when I swap the SD card over to RP3? If so, how can I make a smooth transition?
Yes you can access it on your local connection. Use the path I show above to amend individual systems – the file you show will edit all systems – which is fine if thats what you want to do.
I’m really puzzled. I was using the pax emulator with final fantasy 8 like 3 weeks ago and got the Xbox 360 controller rumbling amazing. Now it does not after I installed retro pie again and neither does the DualShock controller :/
(Also anybody got any idea why after install again input lag is RIDDICULOUS)?
yep that’s the only way for now – install individual emulators > lr-mame2003 > install by source
Hi everybody. Sorry for my bad english.
I have a DualShock 3 clone, which I wasn’t able to pair after it got unpaired on RetroPie 3.1. So I had to reboot my raspberry in order to pair it again.
I upgraded to 3.3 version and it worked perfect. At least, I could stop playing, come back after 5 minutes and pair it again.
However, yesterday I upgraded to RetroPie 3.5 and I have that problem again.
Is anybody else facing that problem? Is it a bug? Where should I report it?
Thank you very much, and, one more time, excuse my bad english.
This seems at least somewhat related to my previous post about Bluetooth headphones:
Dualshock 4 Wireless Headphones
Would be awesome to be able to route the audio to Bluetooth!
I have two Logitech Dual Action gamepads and the C64 emulator is treating them both as the same gamepad. For example, in a two player game, only one player reacts on the screen…………and it reacts to both gamepads in the same way. It’s as if both gamepads are virtually plugged into the same joystick port. Using the “switch ports” button simply switches them both at the same time. Here’s how I have the controllers set up in the config:

Any help would be appreciated. Also, if I open up a two player game in another emulator, such as Atari 2600, the controllers function as expected with each controlling it’s corresponding player. This is for a RPi 2 with whatever version of Retropie was current about a week ago.
Ok, so here’s the deal leading to my question;
I set up Retropie on my Pi 2. Did the whole USB rom tranfer thing. Everything works beautifully! I did some custom controller configurations for 2 button systems since I use an Xbox 360 controller.
I set up another Retropie for a friend. Since there was an SD card size difference I couldn’t make a 1:1 copy so I decided to do everything the long way, no big deal. Although now I notice that I’d have to redo all the custom controller configs.
I noticed this;
On the USB stick that I used to transfer roms which I also used on my friend’s Pi has a config folder containing “from_retropie” and “to_retropie” folders. I noticed that the custom configurations that I made were in the from, so I moved them to the to, inserted it into my friend’s Pi, and go figure all the custom configs moved over as I thought they would which is saving me a ton of time.
My question is;
There is no documentation or discussion on these folders that are made on the USB stick. What is the function and how does it work. More so what triggers the config folder to copy onto the USB stick? Does the OS detect a change in size for the individual console retroarch.cfg and automatically copy them into the from folder? I’m just curious how to trigger the copying from Retropie so that I don’t accidentally copy default configs over my custom ones.
I’ve already bought a Pine64 and I would like to know if this distro works with this micro computer.
The technical details below.
64bit Quad Core ARM A53 1.2GHz CPU
Dual Core Mali 400-MP2 GPU

so what do i need to do now ?
Well, I must admit I’ve considered building some kind of timer functionality on my kid oriented bartop. I have abandoned the idea for now, or at least untill i have them all chipped with their individual rfid chips (joke).
In any case, the assignment is probably not: use the internet to crowd-source this problem, so I would suggest you come up with some ideas of your own.
The good people here are more than willing to mull over your design, and give feedback when there is something to discuss.
Hi can you explain if you install the 3.5 jessie image how do you launch kodi from ES ?
Thanks
I’m just curious, what’s the advantage of using a dual boot setup for this, vs using the retropie Jessie image and installing Kodi to launch from ES?
Install Kodi from the restropie_setup script, then launch it from the ports menu. Alternatively, you could create a kodi folder in the roms folder like any of the emulators, move the kodi launch script from ports into the new folder, then edit es_systems.cfg to add a kodi section. (the setup script may actually add the new section in ES for you now.)
Turns out that I cannot power the Pi 2 and screen with one power supply. Using two individual supplies has everything working fine.
I have just downloaded the latest Retro Pi and it refususes to run roms from usb no matter what i have tried.
When into each individual rom folder
And edited the cfg setting for the path to run from usb and not sd but cant get it working got a rpi2.
Tried multiple usbs thinking it may be the uusb.
My pi i filling up with games and dont know how to run roms from usb
Already enabled rom service in Retropie-setup.
Any help appreciated.
