Member
GBA has a aspect ratio of 2:3.
Good point.

MemberCan you press “x” as the game is starting to set the video mode?

Member
For me the controller buttons appeared as something different in the new image. So start and select were no longer 8+9 but 6+7 instead. Running joyconfig revealed the change in assigned buttons.
Thats right, they (the button codes) will differ depending on the controller you have. They should be the same from image to image though.
Floob
Memberhmm – if there is no es_input.cfg file I guess it hasnt registered it at all yet.
Is there another controller you could try?Floob
MemberTry booting without the keyboard plugged in.
You may also want to see if anything is written here:
/home/pi/.emulationstation/es_input.cfgFloob
MemberThis should answer your hotkey questions – its really pretty clear once you get the hang of mapping what you want.
Check the other videos there for controller configs (I have a playlist there for that).Floob
MemberThere are some ways to load roms here:
Floob
MemberSure, you can put roms in both emulators to use both via Emulation Station.
mupenplus has a config file where you can set shortcut keys for exiting etc..
See this video:
Floob
MemberTo hide emulators, just delete files found in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/{systemname}/

Member
are you able to edit the FBA config via a context menu in game like in Mame?
Not as far as I know, its all in the config file. I think other versions of FBA have a GUI menu, but not the Pi version.
Floob
MemberWhen you do a command like this:
sudo ./retroarch-joyconfig -j 0 >> /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfgIt hardcodes your controller to the retroarch file – which itself is probably set to read the auto files. These guides should help you sort out multiple controllers:

MemberI have some info here. I’ll update it soon.
Floob
MemberSorry its here now (moved from YouTube):
Floob
MemberI dont think that you can have per game controls in FBA – saying that I havent really looked yet, I’ll check it out soon.
I guess you could pass a separate config file for each game, I’ll give it a go.Floob
MemberPiFBA should quit if you use Select and Start together:

MemberThat sounds great – thanks!
I still havent tried CPS3 games on the standard fba on 2.6.0 yet.
Floob
MemberDont forget that
2.6.0 v1 is for B+ (and 1st series of Raspberry Pi A, A+, B, B+)
2.6.0 v2 is for the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B (The new one)Does that help?

MemberThe file is in:
/etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfgthe genesis roms go in
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/megadriveGenesis is the North American name for the Megadrive.
Floob
MemberThe file is in
/etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfgThere should be a “megadrive” folder for your genesis games
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/megadriveFloob
MemberI’ve had a quick go this weekend, I’ll put a video up soon.
Have you tried selecting the A500 defaults button on the first screen?Floob
MemberHave you used the “general” config option, this saves the keys for all the games.
Guide here:
Floob
MemberDo bear in mind that the nes games will be in 256 x 240 (or an upscaled version of).
http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/Nintendo_Entertainment_SystemSo I guess if you forced a widescreen view the aspect ratio would look odd unless you have black bars at the side.
SNES resolution:

MemberIn your first example, rather than put the mario kart rom in the /n64 directory – put it in the n64-mupenplus directory and it should run fine.
Floob
MemberI use gparted on a linux live CD to resize a partition with data on it.
Floob
Member2.6.0 is pretty much the same as the others in terms of retroarch.
You only need to put this in one place – it depends if you are using auto controller files or hardcoding changes in the retroarch.cfg file.
These 2 videos should answer the detail:
It may also help if you upload (as attachments – need to rename to .txt) your retroarch.cfg and USB,2axis8-buttongamepad.cfg
If you did want to put it in your retroarch.cfg (i.e. if you will never use a different type of controller) then the only one you want to edit is
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfgOne simple thing you check, is make sure the quotes ” are the same in the file, as in they arent slightly different styles, either way, let us know how it goes.
Floob
MemberHave you tried scraping with sselphs script – it is quicker and more reliable.
Floob
MemberYes, as handkontroll says, use the RPi1 version that is for the B+
Floob
MemberIf you’re editing files, you may well find it easiest and most reliable to use the terminal interface, and just use nano.
So for example “sudo nano fba2x.cfg”I’d be sorely tempted to use RetroPie 2.6.0 and just go and edit that file using nano.
Floob
MemberYou may find it helps to resize your partition before you backup.
http://gparted.org/display-doc.php?name=help-manual#gparted-resize-partitionThis way it will always fit back onto the same size SD – you just resize when you image it back using the standard resize card tool in raspi-config.

MemberYes, if you dont want to use one, dont put any roms in its folder and it wont show up in Emulation Station.
You could remove them from the disk space, but you would save very little space really.Floob
Member
Hi, due to no response from upstream regarding some issues with pifba, I forked it and applied some fixes on github myself – retropie now pulls from my repo – so if you do come up with anything, feel free to post a pull request against https://github.com/joolswills/pifba
Cheers!
It seems its been having a little attention again?

MemberThere isnt necessarily a best version, they use different emulators. They are all provided so you can choose which you want to use.
You can see what is what by looking at /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg
For SNES I use the retroarch pocketsnes version which is
/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/snesFor MAME I use mame4allpi, which is:
