Topic: Controller Configging in 2.0
Just insalled 2.0, which i think is fantastic! However, im having a little trouble with the guts of it.
Basically, i can’t seem to find the config files for the controllers at all. The frontend controls configged perfectly normally which is fine, and ive managed to get controllers working in games by using the setup tool in retropie_setup.sh. There are two things i wish to do
1) i’d like to get into the config file itself so i can add some basic functionality that you could in 1.9.1 and below, such as the hotkey button that can be assigned to the in-game retroarch config menu andmore importantly, exiting the emulator via the pad.
2) i can’t seem to work out where FBA is getting its controls from. FBA automatically detected and set up both my controllers AND seems to have the exit via pad functionality (via holding start + select/coin). However, the buttons themselves are slightly askew and i would like to reconfigure them to fit my pad better (im using dualshock playstation 1 pads via a USB adapter). Id love to be able to get into FBA config file as well to mess about with some shader and resolution settings as im going to be building a CPS1+2+neogeo arcade cabe using a pi and id like to alter it so it looks more realistic to the original arcade versions.
anyone know how to do this?
Hi,
I’m trying to make working this
I tried it in ubuntu using:
sudo apt-get install joystick
and after
jstest /dev/input/js0and here works perfectly but i’ve done the same things with raspberry, but it doen’t work! Also unistalling and reinstalling “joystick”.
how is this possibile?
Hi, I have just purchased my first raspberry pi and installed retropie plus a few roms.
I followed this guide. http://supernintendopi.wordpress.com/
I can get everything to work correctly with the emulators but I am having a few problems.
1. I have scan lines when playing games, sort of like a stippled effect both horizontal and vertical on the screen. I am running through HDMI onto a HDTV.
2. I am experiencing controller input lag on SNES and Megadrive (Mario world and sonic, the only 2 games I’ve tried so far) I have a USB retrolink SNES style controller, I have the pi overclocked to high settings.
3. When following the linked guide, I got to this part and couldn’t go any further.
Making EmulationStation Look Pretty
Now that you have a sweet micro retro gaming rig, it’s time to make it look nice. Plug in a keyboard into your Raspberry Pi and turn it on. When it boots into EmulationStation, press F4 to quit. This will bring you back to the terminal.
cd RetroPie/supplementary
git clone http://github.com/elpendor/ES-scraper
cd
cd RetroPie-Setup
sudo ./retropie_setup.shit asks for a username when I should be typing cd and it asks for a password when I should be typing cd RetroPie-setup.sh
I fail to authenticate.
What I need as a brand new user is an idiots guide to fixing these things, especially the first 2 issues, the last I’m not fussed about. I mean, what I need to type etc…
Thanks for reading!
Hey,
i think I messed up something with my ps3 controller settings and now i can´t use sixpair ! Everything works fine but since i used a second controller (not a ps3 one) nothing works.
When i try to execute sixpair -> the output is something like “usb_claim_interface: No such file or directory”. Does everybody can help or shall i do a fresh install.
thanks,
V.
P.S. Sorry i´m not a native speaker!
Hi!
New to the forums and wondering if anyone could help me with a problem. Currently using a wired Xbox 360 controller which appears to work fine in EmulationStation but shows a disconnected notification at the lower of the screen once a rom is selected and ran in RetroArch. At first this problem seemed to disconnect and the reconnect the controllers quite frequently obviously interrupting gameplay. Now the controllers just disconnect and do not want to reconnect. I don’t seem to any problem with the cables, everything is connecting and plugged in ok.Any help at all would be appreciated.
ThanksHi, I have a problem i need some help with.
About a year ago i got a 1st gen pi, installed retropie and used it to play snes games with a hori arcade stick (with keyboard attatched so i could use Esc to quit the game), never had any problems. Today I dug it back out and re-imaged with the newest version of retropie, set it up with the same cables and have encountered 2 issues I didn’t have before.
1: During gameplay the controller and keyboard will initially work but at somepoint (between 5 seconds and 10 minutes into the game, i’ve played a bit longer without it disconnecting a few times) I will get a message saying that the controller has disconnected at which point neither the controller or the keyboard will register input and i can’t do anything despite the emulation continuing to run as normal and have no choice but unplug the power cable. This has happened with the hori fighting stick, a generic usb snes controller and an xbox 360 controller. I have only seen this happen in the SNES emulator [Edit: Has happened with mega drive too].
2: Not as great an issue since i’m probably better off with a different controller anyway but I can successfully map the hori fighting stick on the retroarch gui and control the menu without problems but if I start a game it only registers the buttons and not the joystick.
Any help will be appreciated.
Hi, first of all, thanks for this great project!
I have all my roms in a 16GB usb stick, it’s working right now in /media/usb1, but after a reboot my usb stick could be /media/usb0 which forces me to edit the es_systems.cfg of Emulation Station to fix the path. Anybody knows what this is happening or how to fix it? Thanks!Hello.
First, let me apologize in advance for asking any stupid questions or questions that have been asked and answered previously but that I’ve overlooked in my browsing and searching of the site.
After quite some time of trying to decide whether to try a BeagleBoard or the Raspberry Pi, the RetroPie project sold me on giving Raspberry Pi a try.
The emulators I am most interested in running are Basilisk II, RetroArch (for Atari 2600) and Sega Megadrive/Genesis. LinApple would be a bonus, but I thought I read that emulator is no longer updated and wasn’t quite ready for prime time or something?
I’ve dug through a number of posts and threads on this site, so I have a reasonable level of confidence I know where all the info I need is to install RetroPi once I have the Raspberry Pi ready to go. But, insofar as setting up the hardware is concerned, is there a checklist of components needed?
Here is what I’ve figured I need:
* Raspberry Pi
* power supply
* SD card
* case
* keyboard/mouse
* display cable
* display
* game controllerAs far as the game controller goes, I have Atari 2600 and Sega Genesis controllers. From posts I read on here, I can use an Atari-to-USB adapter cable to connect the Atari controller to the Raspberry Pi (and then do some software configuration to get it to recognize all the directional buttons). But what about the Sega Genesis controllers? What would I need to connect those? They are currently boxed up, so I’m not sure what kind of connector they have.
Is there anything I’m missing? Too often with these kinds of projects, I get everything I think I need, go to work on putting everything together and discover some important component I either overlooked or didn’t realize I needed. I’m trying to avoid that here.
Thanks for any assistance!
