    That would be great. I was wondering similar things to. Perhaps instead of it going dim or black when idle it could scroll through random box art or play a video. Something a bit jazzy is always a plus if you’re proud of your work and want to show boat it off a bit. Especially if you’ve built a nice little cabinet for it and want it on in the corner to temp people over.

    Have you tried different roms? When you say “don’t work” does it glitch when it’s loaded or not load at all?

    I say this because I had a similar issue when i changed to the new retropie and i think it was rom issue. I had to get another one. But having said that….I had to reinstall retropie completely a couple of times due to me screwing it up so that may be the answer. Do a fresh full reinstall then update all your scripts etc.

    This is great. Although i’m going from your video. Thre’s no link that i can see anywhere for the download of the .bat file.!!

    It’s pretty much what I was looking for.

    Upload the file again please.

    Rookervic is very right…I never said anything about stealing anything…Hyerspin takes a very strong stance on piracy too before you start hating on them. Compliance with the law is highly important I understand this. But just to take you off your high horse for a sec there, there’s a video of yours on youtube which might incriminate yourself where You have a good sized FBA roms folder and a brick load of bios files. Legal much? Who knows. But you’re the one bringing piracy into this.

    The ideas board….Have an idea….Get told off.

    oops.

    I just want to back up my nes collection with a decent amount of box art of my choosing not what a scraper spits out.

    In the case of nearly all full sets of downloadable roms they use a standard naming scheme. I wouldn’t be a member of emumovies if what you said was true. In the case of mame it is always standard naming so sites like progetto snaps exist. All front ends i’ve used rely on image sets and rom sets matching and i’ve not yet ran into any major problems.

    Perhaps I need to separate hyperspin and retropie a bit in my way of thinking.

    Im saying if my rom is called “Super Mario.nes” and my image is called “Super Mario.png” is there a way for them to find each other without having to scrape?

    I may need to use a different front end? Bit harsh considering I’m just asking if it’s possible and thought it was actually a decent idea. I don’t really understand what the Pi and you guys are capable of so I thought I’d put up an idea in the ideas board.

    Both…Any. It just seems to limit options that I can’t just upload my own set of images and retropie/emulationstation automatically recognize that they are the ones relevant without having to generate an xml with the paths.

    So each system rom folder would already have an image folder in it and I just put the cosponsoring image into that and hey-presto! Done. If there’s no image then there’s no image shown.

    I’ve tried both options for scraping and the hatchet job i’m currently doing works loads better with less time and less effort using all my own box art i just upload using FTP. If i had more programming ability i’d make a PC program to scan rom folders and output to an xml with all available links to images.

    Don’s Hyperspin Tools….That has a “Create New HyperList” program which i use to scan my rom folders then run it through a few word replaces and it’s done. No description no nothing…Just the Path to file and image.

    Sorted it. Mr Herbfargus award yourself 10 points….That was it…I realised last night that it was something simple. Anyways Great stuff…Quite a few systems weren’t there but that was easily solved after an hour with Adobe. Big thanks to the original grand master of this theme Sekazi, thanks for taking the time to share your work and i can’t wait to see if you skin every system as my improvised art is not up to your standards. Thanks again all.

    so….I’ve deleted my original nbba theme folder…Re-installed it from the retro-pie set-up menu re-started and boom….It worked….Had very few skins for a lot of the emulators though…So i then used the download link from a couple of posts up and uploaded those files (emulator folders from the nnba theme…Not any of the other folders in the download) to the nbba theme folder using filezilla. got this error as usual…(see attached image)

    What and where am i going wrong? Im not a huge noob, but a reasonably sized one.

    From the few set up skins ive seen it looks bloody lovely and should be award 10 points and a gold star.

    Shame no one replied to this….So I’ll tell you what i did with my ps1 controller very very similar to the one you’re using. I spent ages looking into how to wire it in,out and shake it all about….Then i gave up and bought a £1:99 adaptor from eBay that was plug and play ps1 to usb. Worked so nicely i bought another adaptor exactly the same and another joystick to match the one i had. Job done. I know you didn’t want to spend money but £1:99 is next to nothing and it was free postage(it arrived the very next day too, which i was amazed at)

    Here is a link so you can see what i bought.

    You may not live in the UK but im sure where ever you are it’s got to be cheaper as the UK tend to charge a fortune for everything.

    Any idea why I’ve updated all my scripts and re-installed this and it still fails to work….Gutted….Really like the look of this one. Emulationstation quits and has some error up that i’ve not actually got to hand then reboots without the theme. Is this a known issues or am i just being a nubbin?

    Thanks for trying to help….I will officially report that I’ve given up on the old TV route and gone back to my nice little 7 inch hdmi screen. (for which I have a million more questions coming)….I kind of lost my nerve with it all….The idea of taking a smelly old camping tele to bits was a little worrying considering my gaffa tape and botching history. This decision may just save my life as i’ve had a few nasty electric shocks through the years from messing inside guitar amps. Any ways….Cheers Mr Herbfargus…Are you the guy doing the Odessey 2 emulator? I’m just fiddling around with that now.

    Thanks for responding pretty sharpish.

    Ok…well i can’t test it right now as for the life of me i can’t find anything to test it on other than this sketchy old crt. It’s a fair point about the lead quality though. I bought the cheapest one i could find on eBay just to see what happened as i’ve never used this output on the Pi before. I will get down the shops tomorrow and start buying out old scart rubbish so i can test out this old crt TV.

    I will be back once i get hold of some more equipment. I feel my 1st post was just the upset of it not being as simple as i first hoped when the TV arrived in the post this morning.

    I’ve given up trying to find a way to sort this. I wanted a cab just for upright games. Thought it would be simple. It is. It just doesn’t work on the Pi by the looks of it. I have a 7 inch hdmi Lilliput monitor just sitting there waiting for this to get solved or answered.

    Just as a final note….I have tried a samsung phone power supply now….

    It’s 5v 0.7a. Pretty low powered compared to the one i was using but having problems with….And guess what….No more power icons in the top right…Even with 2 joysticks, 1 wifi dongle, 1 keyboard and overclocked to High.

    Moral of this story….

    If it was cheap(or part of a bundle) it’s probably useless.

    Noob question resolved. TY

    I can only go on what it says on the label….I bought it as part of a bundle from a reputable Pi dealer. Is there any way for me to check the amps? i don’t have a voltmeter.

    Great news (for me)….I’ve sorted it out….I downloaded piFBA from their site and deleted the pifba folder in the emulators folder then just uploaded all the new stuff (I Had to 777 all the files…It sent my FBA mental and crashed it). I then ran Marvel Vs Capcom and hey-presto! Button 5 was working…Madness….Beat the living daylights out of MegaMan ALL on 1 button (button 5 of course)…Then promptly quit the emulator to reconfig fba2x.cfg to my main arcade stick buttons. Reloaded it all and it had gone back to default normal rubbish no button 5 nightmare again…Hmmmmm

    I deleted pifba, then uploaded it all again. Button 5 was working….So i took a look at what i was using to edit the code…I was using a free program called “XML Copy Editor” left over from a Hyperspin build I did recently.. Anyways…I’ve downloaded notepad++ now and everything is swell in the Raspberry Pi FBA world and button 5 is going to take a rather large spamming from now on.

    Triumph.

    Thanks for your replies to this possible Noobish problem. You made me focus on the right file for long enough to work this out.

    Still no luck tonight. Tried another usb controller with a new retropie img. Alas nothing. The appears to be someone on Reddit having a similar problem from a short while back. That kinda gives me hope that im not mental. But still….I have no clue what is keeping my buttons the same even though I change them in the fba2x.cfg file. I’ve tried going through retroarch configs and all manner of other things to try and work this out….I’ve read through tonnes of stuff, but nothing….I hope I get it sorted as it really puts a halt on me finishing my mini cabinet and I’ve ordered the 7 inch screen now….Bleh! There seems to be no reason whatsoever for this. I now know why the Raspberry Pi is so small…..It’s so when you finally crack you can lob it far enough never to have to see the damn thing again.

    ***Cries!!***

    All I know is that this config….

    [Joystick]
    # Get codes from “jstest /dev/input/js0”
    # from package “joystick”
    A_1=0
    B_1=1
    X_1=2
    Y_1=3
    L_1=4
    R_1=6
    START_1=9
    SELECT_1=8
    #Joystick axis
    JA_LR=0
    JA_UD=1

    ……is what I get regardless of what I change it to….On 3 separate joysticks/pads.

    No the roms are in the normal place. I transfered them using a usb not filezilla as my wifi had gone mental when I was trying out the new sd img. I’ve googled the hell out of this and there’s not too much going on about the subject. But what I did find was that im meant to change the exact file your saying to change.i may have to make a video just to prove im not a mental . I’ve tried a couple of other games and the buttons are pretty randomly spread out but as before nothing changes when I alter the config.im going to have another look into it tonight.

    Hi…I have a nice little Snes USB gamepad too…That does exactly the same as my joystick….The Right Shoulder button should be button 5 and it doesn’t do anything.

    This is what i’ve done now….

    I have another micro SD card so i’ve installed a new retropie img onto it…Then only added Marvel VS Capcom (This is a game i know has a fair few buttons to it) and the neo geo bios. I then got the /opt/retropie/emulators/pifba/fba2x.cfg and did this….(amoung other things..)

    [Joystick]
    # Get codes from “jstest /dev/input/js0”
    # from package “joystick”
    A_1=5
    B_1=5
    X_1=5
    Y_1=5
    L_1=5
    R_1=5
    START_1=9
    SELECT_1=8
    #Joystick axis
    JA_LR=0
    JA_UD=1

    Nothing changed to the button config at all again. I can only assume this isn’t the file i need to change…Or i need to de-activate one somewhere else that is acting as the primary.

    I’ve ran through a load of things again and yup…Im back where i started.All roms are where they should be…Basically anything you’ve said to do in your youtube vids i’ve done…The controller i have is saving as DragonRise Inc.Generic USB Joystick when i do register retroarch controller. Ive done the JStest thingy again and all buttons are exactly where they are supposed to be…There are 11 and they all work exactly to the right position when pressed. I can’t understand what’s going on.

    This is what i’ve done to fba2x.cfg….Like ive said the buttons are random buttons in random places so i can test if they move. It seems just to be for piFBA im having trouble…Other emulators are going great with it.

    Gutted. That’s not worked….I can only assume i’m not editing things right or that there is something going seriously wrong.

    I’ve altered the buttons now to completely random buttons just to see if that changes anything, but it didn’t. Here’s what i did. I only edited the [Joystick] part…Like i said before i’ve only been doing this a week so i may be Noobing things up here. Do i need to remove the # parts to make those lines active?…Im not sure whats going on here….As far as i knew the configs in the “All” folder would overwrite all controls. Again. slightly bummed out by this.
