Ironically when trying to launch this on the latest RetroPie release I got this error:

    I_Init: Setting up machine state.
    OPL_Init: Using driver ‘SDL’.
    NET_Init: Init network subsystem.
    M_Init: Init miscellaneous info.
    R_Init: Init DOOM refresh daemon – [ ……………………………………..
    P_Init: Init Playloop state.
    R_TextureNumForName: 2DIRT not found
    P_InitPicAnims: bad cycle from SW1EXIT to 2DIRT

The author told me to go into the sources and change the type of the “istexture” element of struct animdef_t in doom/p_spec.c from “char” to “signed char”

I did so, compiled, and it works now. This was not required under the latest Raspian for some reason.

Can I have a look at your config.txt please?

I want to dabble with your 1067Mhz settings.

Try these games, I may have let a few slip into the list that ran slow, but for the most part, if memory serves correctly, these are the ones that either already run well on a Pi 2 1050Mhz, or should in theory be doable at 1200Mhz on the Pi 3.

    Bee Wars
    Castlevania

    Echoshift
    Elminage Original
    Exit 1 and 2
    Lunar

    Final Fantasy I-III
    Ghost in the Shell
    Grand Theft Auto China Town
    Jetpack Joyride
    Karoshi
    Ninjamurai
    Pac-Man Champ. Edition
Parasite Eve 3 aka 3rd Birthday
Patchwork Heroes (menu is all that is choppy)
    Shift Extended
    Twin Blades
    Ys (all of them)
    Nom Nation
    Phase Shift
    Valhalla Knights 1 and 2
    Velocity
    Wackylands Boss
    Where Is My Heart
    Space Invaders Evolution
    Space Invaders Extreme
    White Knight Chronicles Origins

He he he, don’t expect games like Tekken 3 to run. :)

RPG’s and Minis work great through…. most of them!

I’m nearly at the end of Ys Origins Book I, apparently it can handle something. :)

    Typo, I meant 1050Mhz.

Why not install the img to usb, then take the boot partition and copy that to an sd, then change the cmdline.txt to point to sda2 instead?

If you install Retropie to USB and only boot off the SD, you’ll get less pauses. The rest you pretty much have to go in comparison with the compatibility chart.

I can say for sure that a lot of the PSP minis work just fine, as do the RPG’s like the Y’s series, and that only at 1050Mhz on the Pi 2 for me.

    EDIT: Typo on Mhz

Are you running off of SD?

This is the first PSP related complaint from a Pi 3 user I have heard. Even over clocking a little on the Pi 2 goes a long way.

Still waiting on my Pi 3s to arrive, so I tinkered with over clocking again and settled with this:

    arm_freq=1050
    core_freq=525
    sdram_freq=450
    over_voltage=3

Using a standard USB stick I don’t need extra voltage to the USB, which seems to conflict with over clocking, so it’s either that or a hard drive that can power itself.

Here is something I noticed that is screwed up about Baldur’s Gate.

When I put the “CD#” folders inside of “data”, it expects the CD folders to be in the root folder. If I put them in the root folder, then it expects them to be in “data”.

    I.E.

Escape from Monkey Island has not crashed thus far, but the intro video slows to a crawl once it gets on to the bit about Le Chuck and Threepwood’s girl friend.

OK, I got Baldur 1 and 2 running and crashing, as well as Planescape. All of these have been patched, and all installed from CD editions of one form or another. So in short, they are not the modified GOG files and paths but should rather be the traditional ones.

Here are my logs for each game:

How would I know if I black listed xpad, and while we are at it, what is xpad? :)

I’ll tell you what I’m doing. This is a FRESH install of the latest RetroPie on my Pi 2. I have PS 2 controllers hooked up (as usual) via USB adapter, and they work fine (again as usual). As for the Rockcandy controller, it is brand new.

As for xboxdrv, how do I know if it is finding the controller? Though the controller set up option in EmulationStation? If so, then yes, as I stated above, it detects all buttons like it is fine with it. On Raspian jstest-gtk even shows it as working as it should, but in emulators and in EmulationStation’s menu, the Left Trigger works but not the right. Initially neither button worked, but I configured it a second time and then the left started working, but not the right.

Ya, it is apparently and has been for a while, which is why I shouldn’t have a blinking light, nor should I be having issues with my bottom triggers.

I saw posts about this controller from months ago, but according to that old thread (not here), the issue had been resolved, but apparently not as well as they’d thought…

    Planscape (2 CD edition?)

Runs until I distribute points to character and try to begin the game, then all of a sudden I find my self at that ever familiar Emulation Station. :)

He he, my bad, I forgot to plug it into the Retropie hardware when I ran the command…
…I did it right before I ran out for work. :)

Anyhow, I double checked and it is:

EDIT: It begins to stutter when death says:

“Intimidating? Me? But I’m your friend. My name is Manny Calavera.”

And then dumps me back to emustation about 3 or 4 seconds after that generally.

OK, I updated it with the patch and copied it over…

    …same thing.

So that’s both Grim and the first Baldur that lock up my system at some point.
What results are you guys getting?

I’ll have to ask around in the GemRB forums for a resolution for GOG, if there is one. Turns out the coders never owned GOG edition either. Though that makes sense, it’s like me and DOOM, I got boxed copies galore cause I love it. :)

Anyhow, I totally forgot about The World’s Finest Retro Gaming Resource! With it, I believe obtaining the original discs won’t be a problem now.

Using the 6 disc set of Baldur’s Gate, I was able to get it to run, but it crashed my system when I tried to select Gender. I have not installed any patches yet though.

Our installs are night and day.
I’ve got an original CD distro of Badur’s 1 that I’m about to experiment with so as to match your install, but as for the rest of those games, I’m out, and it would sem that Gem needs to get compatible with Gog or no one is going to be able to play hardly any of them.

No, I still get errors, and there are no CD folders, no SOUND folders, no OVERRIDE folders… none of these folders it is looking for anywhere to be found in my GOG distro.

    EDIT:

I don’t think it is your fault, it looks to be the fault of GemRB itself. I’m reading through this thread here and finding a lot of common themes…

    http://gibberlings3.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=22079

EDIT 2: Also I notice that some things are not anywhere to be found in my distro such as:

    “[KEYImporter/ERROR]: Cannot find data/LocCha.bif…
    [KEYImporter/ERROR]: Cannot find data/LocSFX.bif…
    [KEYImporter/ERROR]: Cannot find data/LocCre.bif…
    [KEYImporter/ERROR]: Cannot find data/LocMP.bif…
    [KEYImporter/ERROR]: Cannot find data/LocNpc.bif…

I just got back home and decided to have another crack with Grim and this time when the video began to chop out, it just crashed and went back to emulation station.

EDIT: I just hit F4 to exit emulation station and now I sit facing a still image of the Grim Fandango intro movie where it had crashed…

…strange things are afoot at the circle K.

Should I wait until my Pi 3’s come in to play with this?

I was lacking the TAB file and update.exe in my Grim folder. Then again what I’d read is that I only needed the LAB files… I must have misread.

Now that I have those and set it to software I am up and running, thank you!!!

Down side though is that on the Pi2, the cut scenes run clunky.

I ran “sudo ./retropie_packages.sh residualvm configure”

Still getting the same ol’ B.S.

I installed the Gog edition(s), copied the contents from the install folder directly to the game folder on the Pi.

The file structure looks like the Linux release btw.

Gog is the most accessible release of these titles to date, I doubt many will be coming here using any other distribution of the game.

Could this be used to feed power to everything connected to the Pi assuming I rigged it to plug into the MiniUSB port?

I was thinking of stripping it down and putting it inside of my Pistation.

I have a PWR + 5v 3.5A that I use for testing and all of my hard drive seem to act strange even with it. This is the first PSU where things actually seem to act right. so….

…is it safe to power it this way?
