I’m sorry, and kind of bummed out, that no one has responded to your post, because I am having a similar problem; some psx roms respond to input, and some don’t, aside from hotkey commands. I haven’t tried removing the bios because those games worked just fine at one point with it, then they just stopped responding.

I found my problem reported on Github about 6 months ago, a few months before it happened to me, and have recently posted on there, but it seems that no progress has been made on it. I am sure you have moved on from it, but in case you haven’t, I’ll post the link.

That is fantastic! Looks like I know what I’m doing this weekend!

I was just wondering how the separate plugin system is going to fare with the 3.0 update; will there be separate mupen64plus emulators with pre-configured video plugins to choose from in the x/m boot menu, or maybe configurations per game to change the plugin as needed? I’m looking to upgrade soon, so I just want to be prepared to reconfigure mupen as needed. Thanks!

I believe I have, but it was some time ago, and I was much more timid in regard to the DIY nature of it. But it might be the solution I need. What models/retropie versions have you run these with? Did you have any issues with the script?

Well color me retarded. I didn’t realize that had a solution, and I’ve read that link before. I guess I overlooked it because I never intended to use original SNES controllers, but it wouldn’t hurt to have that option open. Thanks a bunch!

Edit: upon further investigation, I am not sure this is the option for me. With how the controlblock is positioned on the board, it wouldn’t fit with the heatsinks already attached. I was also intending on using the power button on the console (ps1), rather than a toggle switch. Kinda bummed out; this is such a good solution otherwise.
Then again, I do have a gpio breakout from my canakit…and I could replace the power button with a switch in the same spot…hmm…..dot dot dot….

Figured I would come back to say that I had more issues with rice and SSB than I remembered. Black screens took over a couple bouts, and the yoshi level was much more rough than I thought.

My bad. Hopefully multithread support will serve to solve some of these issues eventually.

In my experience, the rice plugin works great. Only issues I’ve had thus far are menus blacking out, but if you are familiar with them, you can work around it.

Slowdown on SSB on the Yoshi level didn’t seem any different than what I saw on the faceless default plugin, and didn’t screech to a halt. I can even play Ocarina, which wouldn’t open before, and was glirchy as hell on retroarch. Have you changed the ScreenUpdateSetting to 4? Game changer for me.

Actually, there are two rom folders for N64 in the 2.5.0 and buzz images. The only difference I have noticed regarding those between images is that the 2.5.0 retroarch emulator loaded Ocarina (terribly slow/choppy and graphically flawed), but the buzz image would throw out some illegible script (due to screen resolution), then return to rom selection.

I feel ya on the individual plugin thing, though; it would be nice if the characters in SSB weren’t missing most of their facial features. Kirby was unaltered, strangely enough.
