hey! can someone just post the scripts and files to make the noobs/retropie/openelec switching possible? thanks!

it’s not just ‘infinite’ space, it’s also more secure than keeping the games on the SD. just think about the savegames that would be lost, if your SD crashes! an SD crash is more likely than a HDD crash.
also it’s centralized and 2 or more raspberry pis with retropie can access the same roms/savegames.
you just need a NAS or a server

RECOMMENDED – should be pinned ;)

oh nice! i’m gonna try it now… people keep saying the thing about the addons only – so it seems to be quite stable otherwise.
thank you for posting the way you did it.

you don’t even have to test it “a long time”. just start kodi, start a video and exit kodi. if it works, it works (i think)

well, with kodi 15 the bug is fixed anyways… i’ll just wait for the stable release.
maybe you can add an option in the script to install the experimental experimental kodi 15 beta (actually its beta 2 already) instead of 14.2 ;)

[quote=98849]Nice, so many new additions have been fixed and added this weekend.

what… just one line should fix it? funny, how there are ~5 different very long bash-scripts that DO NOT work…
i hope this really fixes it for me too, then i wouldn’t need to change to kodi 15 beta 2, which should work also.

edit: yep, doesn’t work… the same. after starting a video and then closing kodi – blackscreen!

yes +1 for the booting into kodi… mine is more a media player than a gaming system…

    yes, double”click” it :-D

sorry for not helping at all. i thought about this already too, but i don’t think it’s possible yet… maybe someone can put in a feature request @ emulationstations devs…

i thought it’s not about retropie/emulationstation but about raspbmc… i think there’s an issue with kodi in raspbmc… !? hopefully this will get fixed soon. there seems to be a lot of confusion about this topic as well ;)

i hat the problem with the english keyboard as well. it wouldn’t let me change to qwertz-layout (german) – it said it did, but it didn’t ;)
but after connecting it proberly to the internet via cable raspi-config was able to change this. same with timezone.

that seems very nice! i’ll try it. thank you for sharing!

    wow, that seems complicated ;)

    i just use fstab
    //srv01.home.int/romsretropie /home/pi/RetroPie/roms cifs user=rpi,password=****,domain=home.int,uid=1000,gid=1000,rw 0 0
    //srv01.home.int/biosretropie /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS cifs user=rpi,password=****,domain=home.int,uid=1000,gid=1000,rw 0 0

uid/gid = 1000 means the folders are mounted as user ‘pi’ so making/writing/changing savegames is possible

maybe your TV has a hard time processing the signal from the rpi (maybe it doesn’t like the low resolutions)
setting to game mode disables all or most video processing but scaling, i think.
or maybe you connected your rpi to another hdmi port than the xbox? and the hdmi-ports are configured differently without your knowledge?
also it depends on what games you play (not technically, but what reflexes are needed) – the same latency in megaman 2 is a problem while in myst it won’t be ;)

so without these lines nobody was able to RE-connect their gamepads before?!

it would be very nice if that would work!! thank you :)

edit: yes, it’s working now… so everyone just deals with this issue or was everyone keeping this commands a secrets?or arent they neccessary with all dongles?

you can try adding a few lines to crontab s(started every minute with sleep 5, sleep 10, sleep 15, sleep 20 and so on…
the command would look like this:
    sudo bluez-test-input connect 65:03:22:B7:04:07

i’m not sure about performance impact though. i havent tried it yet.

i had the issue as well, als i wasnt able to change the password of the user “pi” neither with passwd nor wirh the raspi-config.
i had problems with changing timezone and keymap too.

but then i realised my rpi hasnt had an ethernet connection. i connected it proberly again and everything was working again…

    ?!?!

openelec and raspbmc are both linux distributions that just have kodi installed.
on retropie you just install the program kodi. it has nothing to do with openelec or raspbmc.

i did not try this, but have a look at this:
