I ran into this exact same issue when updating using binaries from 3.0 to 3.1 last night. After booting into ES, the screen is frozen at the controller configuration page and neither the keyboard or controllers register key presses.

Were you able to find a fix or did you just load the latest image?

Proxycell is correct, Mame 37 beta 5 doesn’t support a Killer Instinct Rom. SNES has a Killer Instinct port that not too bad, but not as great as the arcade version. It does satisfy my KI fix though!

I have been using a Samsung 64GB SDXC MicroUSB card in my RetroPie build with no issues. Its even on sale right now at Amazon:

If you plan on using the 2.3 image, dont worry about formating the microsd. Just write the image to the microsd card using win32 disk imager and expand the root file system to use the full size once the image is deployed using sudo raspi-config.

I would open your settings on the TV itself and look for a setting named “Game Mode” I have to turn this on both of my LED HD TV’s in order to get rid of my input lag. I use this setting on all consoles hooked up to my TV, not just the Pi.

Here is an article that explains what the setting does:

Most TV’s built within the past five years have a game mode setting.

    Good Luck!
