It sounds like the driver is not seeing the controller. Probably due to it having a different id. See if anything in this thread will help. https://groups.google.com/forum/m/#!topic/xboxdrv/uBmhdlphioU

if you manually type: xboxdrv –trigger-as-button –wid 0 –led 2 –deadzone 4000 –silent

    Does anything happen? errors?

Just delete the es-input.cfg file. Its in the emulationstation directory. Restart emulationstation after you delete and it will reprompt for inputs.

[quote=4308]Is pocketsnes the default SNES emulator for RetroPie?
IE: In Super Mario Kart, the game puts an opacified-number noting your current place on the top of the user-space but pocketsnes renders this layer under-neath.

I noticed the same issue. If I read things correctly we are using an older emulator core as it tends to run faster. I think there have been a lot of SNES emulation fixes which are not currently on the RPI.

From my own trials I have found the retroarch auto config to be hit and miss. If I start hot swapping controllers with retroarch open I tend to freeze the system.

If you run jstest with both controllers? jstest /dev/input/js0 then try js1

If you have enough USB ports, try having everything plugged in plus a keyboard. when you start up a rom press F1 to go into the gui and go into the inputs/controller section. See what controller driver is being loaded. (sorry I can’t remember the exact sub menu)

hmmm so it seems the retroarch option is still the best we have.

    Thanks for your guy’s input.

Sorry I have to correct myself. I forgot my romsets are hyperspin compliant which means they differ a little bit from nointro ( same roms files but different naming scheme). My xml’s probably will not be able to save you any time.

amccabe: what romset are you using?

If you are using nointro I can can post my xml’s which have already been manually scraped. That should save you sometime.

Mystery solved. I put the hotkey lines in my main retroarch.cfg and it worked like a charm. I now have a SNES pad and wired xbox 360 setup on auto.

The Select and Start buttons on the SNES correspond to the XBOX 2nd L & R triggers which none of the emulators use, so it works out well.

Only issue is that retroarch freezes when I swap controllers. Not a big deal b/c who the heck swaps controllers mid game anyways. :-) I think the autoconfig still has some bugs to work out.

    Thanks for helping me troubleshoot.

    Second guessing always allowed.

Spacing appears fine. I tried it with quotes (everything), without quotes (everything), and a mixture of quotes (everything has quotes but hotkey buttons).

Every line works with the exception of the Hotkey line. Start still exits the emulator.

Do you think it is because I am using an Autoconfig controller setup? Maybe hotkeys are only allowed in the main Retroarch.cfg.
