When I have a good running system, is it then needless to update it (I know: “Never update a running system”… :) ).
But maybe there are a lot of bug fixes?
So maybe if I update the system, will then the DAT-files (for example for Mame) change and is there the risk, that a lot of games then will not run anymore, because of a changed dat-file/rom-set-needed?

I found out now that I can set the controls pressing TAB in a game.
When I then change it for all games and change after that controls of a single game, all other controls will not be overwritten from all games?

So with the info of using TAB, I think no shortcuts are really needed.
Sorry, I didn’t know that with the TAB…

So, I’ve tried that and it works perfect!
    So 1) is fixed.
    and 2) also almost fixed.
    But only almodst.

As written, I’ve connected the Coin1 button, but in MAME it doesn’t work.
    Same for the Exit-Button.
    I’ve attached the Exit-Button to 2B.

Any idea, what I must change or where I must connect it?

General: Are there any shortcuts for other keys? Example: Using iPac2 a shortcut for Exit was pressing Player1 together with Player2…

    Ohhhhhh!

I thought I must connect the power to the RPi?!
Because I thought I saw that in photos of the manual.
So then the ControlBlock gives the power to the RPi?!

    Thank you for your answer.

Another feedback from me, hopefully, anyone know an answer!

    to 1)
    I noticed another strange situation:
The switch is turned off, then I connect the USB-power-suply and the Raspberry boots! But only until the Retripi-title-splash. Then I see the shutdown-command!
When I then switch it to on, nothing happens, without that fading LED.
If the switch is on and I then connect the USB-power-supy, the Raspberry boots too but then he will not shutdown.

    to 2)
I test all buttons with “jstest” and they work.
But the button I’ve chosen for Coin1, didn’t work in MAME?!
Also I can’t use and Exit-button, because I didn’t know where to connect to on the ControlBlock!
Or must I configure them in a config file?

    Regarding 2:
I remember that I must configure the keys in the ES-Config and then this works.
But when I there config them I have keys which I don’t know how to set them.
    I have only that buttons:
    4 x 1P-Axis
    4 x 2P-Axis
    Button 1P 1-5
    Button 2P 1-5
    Player 1 Start
    Player 2 Start
Pause (where must I connect this on the ControlBlog?)
Exit (where must I connect this on the ControlBlog?)

Thanks a lot for your details.
I found that out with the lower four attachements.
So I can have them connect to my buttons.
BUT: I have a cabinet for two players and have for each player a “Start”-Button, but no “Coin”-Key. So I saw, that there can be used a “shortcut”, pushing two switches (if I remember right “left” and “1”), to get the effect with the coin for Player1. Is there also a shortcut for Player2?
I also read, that some people connect the button for “Start-Player1” to “1Start” and “1Coin”?!

Well, I found out, that there are shortcuts for the I-Pac2. Are they available too for the ControlBlock?

So the second question regaridng that:
I saw, that pressing first 1Player and hold it and pressing then 2Player, will bring the function of Exit.
So can I connect next of those two 1Player and 2Player buttons to cables to my exit-button, or isn’t that possible?

    So like in my attachment.
Then 1Player get the function 1Player.
    2Player get the function 2Player.
And 1Player&2Player get the function Exit.

    Thank you.
    I didn’t update from RP1.

    @herbfargus
: So can I upload via internet or must I have the updated files?
There are only updates for the emulators or for the main system?

I got the pi2 and with the image from two days ago it starts without problems.
I am completely new in this Raspberry-Area, but I think it’s a fantastic hobby which I want to learn. And for my latest project it seems to be the perfect solution. It’s a Retro-cabinet.
So with the new image for pi2, there are only a handfull emulators. How can I add all (or most of) those others?
Will there be a complete build like the old one, in the next time?
