in reply to: Play roms from USB Hard Drive #104809
this guide is good too..
InsecureSpike has mentioned this in a few of this posts….i use it and always the extended procedure… it uses the usb device’s Partition unique GUID & Filesystem UUID incase you have any other usb storage on your Pi, for example if your using it for Retropie & another OS/distro also from what i gather its safer than just assigning drive names

in reply to: boot straight to CaveStory, only? #103754
go to /etc/profile.d/
remove 10-emulationstation.sh if it exists.
make a new file – such as 10-cavestory.sh
with the contents
"$HOME/RetroPie/roms/ports/Cave Story.sh"
and it should get launched on start up (if the system is set to log in automatically).

in reply to: Bluetooth Connection prompt? #103750so is this the only text that goes in the es_input.cfg?
this is what is in there at the moment…
<?xml version="1.0"?> <inputList> <inputAction type="onfinish"> <command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/emulationstation/scripts/inputconfiguration.sh</command> </inputAction> <inputConfig type="joystick" deviceName="Logitech Logitech Cordless RumblePad 2"> <input name="pagedown" type="button" id="7" value="1"/> <input name="start" type="button" id="9" value="1"/> <input name="pageup" type="button" id="6" value="1"/> <input name="up" type="hat" id="0" value="1"/> <input name="a" type="button" id="1" value="1"/> <input name="b" type="button" id="2" value="1"/> <input name="down" type="hat" id="0" value="4"/> <input name="right" type="hat" id="0" value="2"/> <input name="select" type="button" id="8" value="1"/> <input name="left" type="hat" id="0" value="8"/> </inputConfig> </inputList>
do i add this… (below) to the text? above/below? or delete and just add the keyboard info?
<inputConfig type="keyboard" deviceName="Keyboard"> <input name="start" type="button" id="9" value="1"/> </inputConfig>

in reply to: the using of folders? guidance? #103100
Check the file es_systems.cfg.
It has the informations about the emulators (commandline) and the folder to place Roms.Or check this link:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki
yup i understand how the es_systems.cfg works,
i’m trying to use then for translations, hacks and so on, but just can’t get game lists to get recognised, they are all manually edited, and work if i add them to a system if its in the main carousel
