What is strange I’ve got the xbox controller working in ES, but when I go into the for example the Megadrive emulator and into the retroarch menu to input and try and bind the buttons and d-pad etc it doesn’t register and after 5 seconds goes back to the menu. The device input says it’s the xbox wireless controller too, any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

I’ve got my pi in my 2 player bartop which is all configured fine but also wanted to configure 2 wireless xbox controllers for n64 games and so I can take the pi out of my bartop and attach to my TV, should this be possible?

I use the Amiga emulator so when this theme loads it does look good as the Amiga isn’t supported, can I copy the Amiga logo from another theme or make the theme start on another supported emulator at start-up ?

I ran it manually and it still didn’t work in the end, then I found I had a couple of 0kb or 0mb roms in the folder which I removed and worked.

I had to use a process of elimination, try putting 5-10 roms in there first and see if it works, it may just be a corrupt rom like I had.

    <gameList />

No log, and drops back to the main menu on both.

I’d at least expect it to load either emulator.

I don’t think that emulator worked when I tried it, you are talking about that menu that pops up with the blue background after hitting x?

I’m not in front of it as of now, but you mean that blue config menu I think. There are 4 emulators, I think the first one is the default one called ir-mupen64, if I try the others (rice etc) it says it can’t run the rom.

    in \\RETROPIE\configs\all\retroarch.cfg

    I see

    input_enable_hotkey = nul

I guess I can just set this to for example space?

I will look tonight when I get home.

Yeah P2 Joystick works in the config menu and I manually configured it, and the buttons are working like P1. Just the joystick doesn’t, if I swap then P2 joystick works and P1 doesn’t – makes sense I guess :)

I guess I can do with our player 2, seems to look ok, just player a footy game and it seems joystick 1 or 2 would control the same team lol. Huge thanks for your help though.

This is what my file looks like though, can’t see why the second joystick won’t separate itself from joystick 1, but hey.

    Hello,

Seems most buttons work accept run stop, but not the joysticks, so I manually configured them through the config menu again.

Player 1 is ok but player 2 isn’t, I tried the game Match Day 2 as you can do 2 player, player 1 works but he player 2 joystick doesn’t.

From the config how can you tell what is space, fire, run stop?

Here my file, I haven’t tried the other config yet, just wondered what you thought.

    Hello,

Just tried and some work some don’t.

    Does work
    warp
    quit
    quick save
    quick load

    Doesn’t work

    Neither joysticks work.
The fire button doesn’t, it seems to be as if the button held down.
    space

    run/stop not tested

I was trying to understand what all the numbers mean to help out, but I can’t make sense of them,

    For example what would 0 1 0 1 1 16 do and why or 1 1 8 5 Quit emulator?

It’s clever stuff, I just don’t get it.

    P1B3: Save Snapshot
    P1B4: Warp Mode
    P1B5: Joypad swap
    P1B6: Load Snapshot
    P1B7: Run/Stop
    P1B8: Menu
    P1B9: Quit

Do I just copy everything below the # dragon wise line in to the sdl-joymap-C64.vjm file or the part above too?

Swap would be fine for button 5

    P1B1: (SELECT/FIRE)
    P1B2: (SPACE)
    P1B3: Save Snapshot
    P1B4: Warp Mode
    P1B5: How about Swap here
    P1B6: Load Snapshot
    P1B7: (How about RUN/STOP)?
P1B8: (How about PAUSE or MENU)?
P1B9: (Quit) (Or do you just want MENU then let the use select QUIT in case of accidental push?)

Menu is fine, or let me know what the quit option is so I can try it.

    Many thanks mate!

Cheers. Let me do this is 2 part :)

I’ve copied you config over and:

My Button 2 brings up the vice menu and exits or goes back through the menu until it exits.
U – works as normal in the menu
D – works as normal in the menu
    L – navigates the menu
R – navigates the menu as does my button 1 which could be button 0

    Hi,

I’m sorry to confuse things with my output. I can reset if you like?

I did configure Joystick 1 and 2 U,D,L,R and Fire, but that is it.

    button 4 – Speed settings&Warp mode
    button 5 – Machine settings&Joystick settings&Swap joystick ports
    button 6 – Snapshot&Quickload snapshot.vsf
    button 3 – Snapshot&Quicksave snapshot.vsf
    button 9 – Quit emulator
    button 2 – Space
    button 5 – Run/Stop

Regarding scraper missing artwork, shall I open a fresh post?

That nbba theme is just amazing, I’m messaged the guy to see if he has plans for the Amiga, PC and Spectrum, it’s something I couldn’t do.

    Thanks

Yeah I tried to look at your script and edit mine which failed.

    So for example does

    0 1 8 5 Quit emulator

Mean player 1’s button 8 will Quit?

Not sure what 0 is for or 5

I have a picture and layout, I will attach tomorrow. My buttons work great in mame, neogeo, megadrive, snes. On the c64 I just have the up, down, left, right and fire set for both players. I don’t understand that c64 hot key mapping file I’ve pasted above, where did you learn this from?

    Adding system_directory = /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS to opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg fixed it.

If I edit /opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg it gets overwritting by the contents of /opt/retropie/configs/psx/retroarch.cfg – weird eh.

I tested WipEout 3 and maybe it is the power of the Pi2 but, the sound stutters at times, plus the graphics are grainy, I wondered if there are any tweaks/Filters?

    Thanks
