crystaljParticipant
Thank you very much for the kind words. I’ve really been enjoying it and I can’t wait to share the final mame cabinet it’s going into once it’s done!
crystaljParticipantSorry for my delay in response. You need to make sure you also copy the general_art folder over because it contains the font file that is used for the themes. That may be why you are not getting any text to appear.
You also need to make sure you are not set to Basic Theme, which is not configured and will definitely give you the resulting missing logo and text. The correctly displaying theme is only 1 image for the background.
crystaljParticipantThe Pi simply shows up on my home network and I am able to drop roms directly into it that way. If I need to access anything but the rom folders, I use WinSCP.
crystaljParticipantI had the same issue, but it was only with a few games in FBA. The solution was to download the rom from a different source. In particular I remember in King of the Monsters the main character sprite was invisible, but everything else was there. Downloading a different copy of the rom fixed the problem. Overall, I’ve found the mame and fba emulators on the pi to be extremely finicky. I’ve had to do a lot of downloading multiple copies of a rom to see what works best.
crystaljParticipantHow thick is the plywood you are using? I am just starting on a portable wooden case myself, but it will house a 19″ monitor along with the pi. I also plan going to go for the natural look, just staining the wood. Nice work!
crystaljParticipantMAME and Neo Geo/CPS themes are in this zip file. These are static images set up for 4:3 aspect ratio screens. It was taking too much time to design themes using the code provided because I would constantly have to make a percentage change, check it, then change the value again.
If you’re interested in the original layered photoshop file, I can post that as well. Enjoy!
crystaljParticipantCheck your gamelist.xml file in the rom folder that you are having the trouble with. There should be a line for each game that points to the image file. It will look something like this:
<image>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx/crusader.jpg</image>
If you don’t see a line like this, then the scraper failed to set up images properly. If you do see this line, then the problem may be in the layout of the emulationstation. That file would be located in:
/home/pi/.emulationstation/"your system name"/theme.xml
crystaljParticipantVery cool! Great work.
crystaljParticipantI am very interested in this as well, wonder why the links aren’t showing up for you?
crystaljParticipantI had the same thought yesterday! It would be an amazing addition to the RetroPie project. Looks like there is recent activity with the linux version. Maybe ask the developer directly? http://www.elecbyte.com/

I run at arm_freq=1000 and sdram_freq=500 and it plays quite smoothly, including sound. No luck with other games though.
Maybe make sure your power supply is enough? I am using this one, which came recommended by other pi users.crystaljParticipantYou can try changing the ROMS path as well. I also had zero luck with the NeoGeo emulator and switched over to fba. Here is the es_systems setting that works for me.
PATH=/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/fba EXTENSION=.zip .ZIP COMMAND=/home/pi/RetroPie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 1 /home/pi/RetroPie/emulators/pifba/fba2x %ROM%”
I am having limited luck with getting Roms to work and I have found no sources to help me with it :-(
