If we’ve already patched the kernel, should we somehow re-patch to the original kernel? Or would an apt-get update take care of that?

The ‘axis autofire’ and the ‘2-player controller’ issues are separate so as long as you’re not getting autofire, don’t worry about the kernel patch. Adding the string in my previous post to /boot/cmdline.txt should make the Xin-mo be recognised as 2 controllers.

EDIT: SOLVED by myself. I had to write so the same line of the other commands in cmdline.txt

thank you

I finally configure retropie 3.0 and plugin my xin mo. I add the line in cmdline.txt and look like this

but when I configure the inputs by emulationstation I have only one controller detected. I have no buttons connected at the xinmo right now and I can’t do the jstest I also checked the vendor ID and is the same, then the line is correct.

Then i don’t need to install the custom kernwell. I need only to write the line in cmdline.txt to let retropie recognize the xin-mo as 2 controller, right?
I have just made changes to this. System distributed splashscreens live in /opt/retropie/supplementary/splashscreen – they are not owned by user pi, and should not be modified (so the system can update without problems).

The user splashscreens go to ~/RetroPie/splashscreens

if you update retropie-setup – and re-configure splashscreens and sambashares you should end up with a samba share pointing to ~/RetroPie/splashscreens – the splashscreen configuration now has some additional options – to browse retropie-setup splashscreens and to browser own splashscreens.

Solved.
sign into ftp as root or update your setup script, re-enable samba shares from the setup script and it will be editable from there as well (you can type \\RETROPIE into a filemanager to access the folders as long as your raspberry pi is connected to your network)
sry, but I don’t understand how re-enable samba share and do the other thing you describe. I’m using cyberduck to copy roms and folders. I’m trying to set manually the splashscreen (fallowing mcbourne suggestions) by putting the folder in “/home/pi/RetroPie” but when i write the line “/home/pi/RetroPie/custom/Retro.png” I dont know which button I have to press to confirm this. When I go back I have the default splashscreen.

Same here. I can’t upload my custom splashscreen folder with retropie (permission denied). Any help for a noob?

Don’t know if this fix can help me.
First of all, I wired only player 1 buttons (6 action buttons + start and select = 8 buttons) on Xin-mo to test some games before building the cabinet.
I have this problem: When I try to configure controls (with TAB on the keyboard) in mame4all Start (1P) and Select (coin) does not give input.
After a research on internet I discover that mame4all support only controller with max 16 buttons (0 to 15). In jstest my action button are 10 to 15 and Start and select are 16 and 17. Probably this is my problem, but i don’t know how to fix it.

I have the latest version of retropie 3.0 (beta4)

Sorry for my english and thanks for your answers

I returned to mame4all to have a different configuration for any game.
I don’t understand why in my arcade controller 1P and coins do not give input when i press tab to configure buttons.
I have six normal buttons (10,11,12,13,14,15) that works fine and 1P and coins (16, 17) that do not work. Maybe mame4all does not support more than 15 buttons??

I don’t know why I don’t have 1,2,3…9 buttons…

I wired only 8 buttons of the player one of the xin mo to test the buttons maybe i have to wire all the buttons

I’ll see the video soon.
I partially solved the problem editing the fba2x.cfg (using pifba)
Games like Metal Slug does not work in lr-fba
input_enable_hotkey_btn = “4”
the line resolve the problem but it create another one.
In lr-fba when I press the btn for hotkeys (I need all 6 btn) in SFII 3rd strike the game has micro-freeze. In SFII the hotkey button with the joystick active the “save state” hotkey.
For games that use less than 6 button there’s no problem obv.
Its a known issue with lr-fba and lr-imame4all. For some reason the hotkey overrides the select key input coin function for some games so I usually just swap my hotkey with the left bumper and then pressing select works to input a coin.
How do you swap the hotkeys? In retroarch menus?

1)Now I changed the emulator with lr-mame4all that works with retroarch. Now I don’t know how to change controls because keyboards now works like a “retroarch keyboard” (like a gamepad).
2)Not in all games ‘Start/1P’ and ‘Select/coins’ works and I can’t understand why. I have to use keyboard for coins (pressing backspace/Select) in these games

Now I’ll try to search for a config file like you suggest…

I solved changing the emulator. With lr-mame4all it’s okay. The buttons works well but not for all the games and i can’t go on the control panel with TAB on keyboard.
There is a shortcut/hotkeys for mame control panel?
