Have you made the binary executable? Try chmod +x mame

PLEASE HELP! :) #103295mikedpittParticipantI believe this is the same thing I had to do with an older version of retropie to get mame4all-pi working. It was discussed in the forums, and was a problem with compilation due to the amount of axis’s.

PLEASE HELP! :) #103067mikedpittParticipantI have an older retropie version that was compiled with support for the ps3 controllers. I am also interested if there is a 2.6 version, that will run on an Rpi2 that is compiled to include support for the ps3 controllers via bluetooth.
mikedpittParticipantI have an older binary, and I did not compile from source as mine failed every time I tried. I’m working with an image. And I took the binary above in the post (way above) to even get the ps3 controller working. All I think I need is a working compiled binary and config files, and I “should” just be able to replace the binary and cfg files right? And this version of mame4allpi will do 2 ps3 controllers and screen rotation hopefully everything I need :)
mikedpittParticipantIs there an already compiled binary and cfg files to be had anywhere?
mikedpittParticipantWhat am I not doing?
mikedpittParticipantThey do not. Neither do the in ROM dipswitches for “Cocktail” settings that flips the screen between players either. Although these do work in advmame. I may be doing something incorrectly, but even getting the screen to rotate doesn’t do me any good if the screen doesn’t flip in between players :(
mikedpittParticipantflipping the x and y axes, isn’t the same as rotating the screen. I am currently using both mame4allpi and advmame, because advmame supports screen flipping via dipswitches in the ROMS themselves and rotation. It would be great to only use one, but the screen rotation is a deal breaker for me as this is an old cocktail cabinet.
mikedpittParticipantDoes this mame4allpi support screen rotation?
mikedpittParticipantThe only thing I would have liked to have done, is to make another graphic for the main emulationstation. Now I just have two instances of MAME, and one is named MAME Cocktail. I would have liked to have done another vector graphic, and them. Alas, my design skills are not so much.
mikedpittParticipantNot at all. Just add another entry in the cfg file, and point it towards the binary and the romset.
mikedpittParticipantADVmame is slower. But I don’t use it for anything but games that I want to play “cocktail” style. Like old galaga, or Ms. Pacman. So they don’t need blazing speed. It’s a raapi after all. So use mame4allpi for all your more graphics intense games, and only use advmame for the ones in which you want the screen flip. For me, that’s about 30 games. Like I said, I have a separate menu option in emulationstation for advmame, and one for mame4allpi.
mikedpittParticipantactually, what I ended up doing worked. There is no support for screen “rotation” in mame4allpi. You can only reverse the X and Y axes, which doesn’t help. I now use AdvMAME for all of my “screen flipping” ROMS, and use it’s own romset in it’s own directory. I then used the dipswitches in the menu, to pick cocktail, and the screen rotates between players.
mikedpittParticipantNo, I have the controller working in Neo Geo and MAME with their own settings files. I actually saw the mame.cfg file right off the bat. And I’ve programmed controls in the emulators themselves, so it’s working well. I’m really now, just trying to figure a way to flip MAME display by 90 or 270 degrees. mame4all-pi doesn’t even look at the retroarch.cfg file, (as you stated exonerated) and the “flip x and y axis” isn’t realy what I wanted. What I would LOVE is the ability to tell is to flip certain games only and leave the others as they are. In a last resort, was just going to add advmame as another emulator, and give it it’s own romset, (games which can be played cocktail style) and just have two different mame emulators. That’s not a very good solution, but for now it’s all I’ve come up with.
Also, it SUCKS having thegamesdb down.mikedpittParticipantworks :) Now, if there was only a way to rotate the screen…
mikedpittParticipantDoes anyone know if this will work with the Raspi A 256MB? This is as of now the ONLY thing I don’t have working for my cabinet.
mikedpittParticipantOK, well, I have the bluetooth working, EXCEPT of course with MAME4ALL-PI and Neo Geo :( I found a copy of mame4all-pi already compiled to work, but it’s for the raspi b+ and I don’t think it will work with my version, which is an older one. Does anyone per chance have a working with ps3 controller via bluetooth already compiled mame4allpi? Also, where does ES look for images and descriptions? I have been using the emumovies scraper which works great. I just can’t for the life of me figure out where to upload the images.
