Using Retropie 3.0 b2 I’ve been trying to figure out how to get cheats to work. I see there is an option under ‘Core Options’ to load a cheat file, so I created a XML file with some various values but Retropie won’t recognize it when I try to load it. What format does the cheat file have to be in? Is there an easier way to get cheats to work in Retropie?

unfortunately for me (and i might be doing something wrong) the cheats that have multiple codes per line item do not work, i’ve resorted to creating new lines and separating the codes which works fine.

Thanks! So I downloaded one of the .CHT files to try this out, I got the Game Genie cheat set for Contra 3 (SNES). I booted up the game, went to Options > Core Options > Cheat Options and loaded the .CHT file. I then selected to go through 4 passes of the file and switched those first 4 cheats to “On” but nothing seemed to happen. I must be doing something wrong?

ya, some don’t seem to want to work correctly. I’m pretty sure for Contra III, I used action replay codes.

also cross reference the codes with a site like http://bsfree.org/?s=4&d=5&g=5062

(this will also help you to determine what the complete codes are for things like modifiers which require you to complete the code to match up with the weapon you want or whatever the code effects)
