Need some help putting in the old libmupen64plus.so.2.0.0

I’m new to UNIX and thought I was making progress.
Anyway, first when I try to overwrite it with the other file, I get permission denied.
To gain permission, I typed “sudo chmod a+rwx libmupen64plus.so.2.0.0”
After that, I typed “ls -l libmupen64plus.so.2.0.0”
This tells me: “-rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 610664 DATE TIME libmupen64plus.so.2.0.0”

I’m assuming that means I SHOULD have permission to adjust the file. Going back into the browser screen, I still can’t do anything to that file. Any tips on what to do next?
