Hello, just a quick update: I finally took the time to make it configurable and just submitted a pull request. Cheers!

Hey everyone, I too was having issues with my SFC30 until I stopped sixad service.

On top of that I use both a sixaxis gamepad and my 8bitdo (and my controlblock) on my Retropie, so right now it’s no longer possible to use the 8bitdo unless I manually stop sixad, connect the 8bitdo, then run sixad again and connect the PS3 controller. Not super easy:/

The thing is, at some point it was working. I had the system working for maybe a month until the 8bitdo started to no longer connect a couple of weeks ago. So I’m wondering if a 8bditdo firmware update, or a retropie script or binary update broke my perfectly functional setup. Maybe it made sixad more agressive or start at a different time. Maybe it made my 8bitdo act differently. I can’t tell :/

I confirm it does the trick, haven’t had time to make it configurable though.

I had the same goal. I ended up ordering this controller board and built a power cable for it that plugs into an USB socket.

The good news is, it works. The 5V are plenty enough when plugged directly to a 2A USB power supply. The bad news is that it doesn’t work so well when plugged to the Raspberry (+controlblock, which would’ve allowed me to power everything up and down using the controlblock’s power switch). The backlight flickers. I’ve read somewhere that reducing the brightness might help but I don’t want to do that, so right now I’m using 2 separate USB cables, one for the raspberry and one for the lcd, both plugged the same dual-output USB charger.

Thanks for the details. I drew my own design and did a couple of tests on laser cut cardboard. I’ll go with 3mm MDF as well for the final cut. I don’t have the proper tools to cut the groove in the icade’s lid though (which was a great idea) so I’ll have to find something else for that bit.

Sounds good, I’ll try that. Thanks!

This is amazing work. Congrats! Would you mind sharing the details/files for the mid section that you designed (screen support, top part for speakers, and bezel)? Thanks!

Yep, but would not be possible to do this automatically when running, say, the SNES emulator from ES? And revert it when going back to ES. My iCade doesn’t have room for a full keyboard…
