xboxdrv [ERROR] USBController::on_read_data(): failed to resubmit USB transfer:

I followed the guide on how to install the latest version of RetroPie, got (mostly) everything set up, but have run into an error with my wireless xbox controller. It’ll randomly throw out this error while in game:
[ERROR] USBController::on_read_data(): failed to resubmit USB transfer: LIBUSB_ERROR_NO_DEVICE

When I get that error, the lights on the controller start blinking and I have to SSH into my Pi to run sudo xboxdrv so I can continue playing. But today, it even crashed when I did that. So, how would I go about fixing this?

I am also getting this error while transferring files to the Pi over SFTP. After a while, the transfer stops and dmesg dumps a similar error message before everything stops working.

This is a fresh install from source.
