Has anyone found a solution to turning the TV/monitor on/off? right now, I have the remote, and I extended the wires for the IR LED, but I was thinking about hacking the remote further, and connect wires to the circuit traces for the power button, and put a momentary switch on the side of my cabinet.

What are you trying to do exactly? Get the RPi to control the power to a monitor/TV somehow?
