Swap JS and Button Inputs? Retroarch.

I use a “zero delay” encoder for most of my buttons, but I have side buttons and an ESC button wired to the GPIO as well. What I want to do is play Turbografx pinball games using the side buttons.

The Retroarch configuration uses the D-pad for the left flipper, and a button for the right.

Is there anyway to input custom controls so Retroarch sees a button press as the Dpad input?
