Putting Image onto SD Card

Hi –

I have my OS on one SD card, and I put RetroPie on another. I then put RetroPie in a card reader and added that to the Pi. That doesn’t boot up EmulationStation on start, and I’m guessing it’s because it has to be on the same SD card, in BOOT. (I can see the files for RetroPie, just am not sure how to run it.)

I was going to use ApplePi Baker to flash the image on, but all of the options seem to first wipe the card, then add, which would remove my OS.

How can I flash RetroPie onto the SD card without getting rid of my OS?

In case it wasn’t made clear after mentioning ApplePi baker, I’m on a mac.

If you want to add RetroPie to an existing setup (the option above is much easier unless you really need to keep your existing build) you can use the guide shown here:

Just wondering – is it customary to have the OS and RetroPie on the same SD card? I would guess it is, but the above link would get rid of the OS. Is there a way to run it with a second SD card thats not the OS?

To be clear – I have RetroPie on an SD card, but am not sure how to run it if it’s not on the default OS card.
