Mupen64Plus Rice Plugin Weird Lighting

If I knew how to make screenshots I would to post.
I have my controls, and preferences set up on Mupen64Plus now and using the Rice plugin yields the best results, but the lighting is all very strange. In Super Mario 64 Mario is very dark, and there appear to be odd shadows everywhere. It certainly doesn’t look anything like the original lighting. Do I have a setting changed that I shouldn’t have?
The game is still playable, I’m hoping someone can help me iron this out though.
