MEME Roms simply won't start, no error shown

Hey guys,
my RetroPie is working fairly well instead of the MEME emulator. When trying to run Metal Slug or Rampage, I see the console opening, the screen turns black for a short time and returns to the console and back to the EmulationStation View. I don’t even ge an error message.
Does anybody got some advice?

best off use google to search for a 0.37b5 Romset,
then you know where you are, and more help can be given,

in my signature, is a link for a “working” mame4all-pi rom list but you need to get the rom set first

Same problem. I used the built in verification to check that the roms were good but it still just spits me back out onto the main screen. Did you ever figure out what was the issue?
