I am having trouble switching my emulator to mame4all and get my mame roms working. I tried reading some of the other posts but couldnt figure it out. If someone could please dumb it down for me.

I’m not sure how to reconfigure an older installation of RetroPie… I’ve seen some older threads about switching to MAME4ALL on earlier versions. Maybe check those out.

But I would encourage you to upgrade to v2.4.2 Beta. MAME4ALL is the default in the newer SD card image versions.

The file that specifies the emulator to run is

    /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

If you navigate there and edit it with
    sudo nano es_systems.cfg

you will scroll to the MAME section, and you’ll see which it is using, often of it isnt set to mame4all already, the mame4all option would be there but commented out, so its easy to enable it.

But as Roo says, much better idea to use a newer image.

So I am now running 2.4.2 and I can confirm mame4all is on there. I upload my roms and they show on the list but they will not play? Any suggestions?

Which directory did you copy the roms into?
    It should be /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame/

Which romset are you using? It should be 0.37b5 or it probably wont work.
