I have the same problem. In playing around with RetroPie I’ve created 4 or 5 installations on different SD cards, and they all have one thing in common: none will run linapple. I get the same segmentation fault every time, regardless of whether it’s a fresh install, everything updated, some items updated – doesn’t seem to matter.

I see lots of other posts where the -only- thing people have running on a fresh install is linapple, so I find it really strange that it hasn’t ever worked once on my system.

Any troubleshooting suggestions for asbesto or me?

Try to start linapple with sudo or change the es_systems.cfg:
    <command>sudo /opt/retropie/emulators/linapple-src_2a/Start.sh</command>

That works for me (RetroPie-Image 2.3).
