Hello,
How can I make games full screen in Mame Advance?
Some games have black borders on them and some don’t.
Thanks
I too face this issue,
Seems to primarily be with CPS-1 / 2 games.
I had a play with the configuration file last night but did not manage to resolve it. I did read somewhere about disabling Overscan but could not find any reference to it in the advmame cfg file. Perhaps it’s a global option? And adding it caused them emu to not load.
I will keep searching for a solution and let you know.
which version of retropie?
can you give an example game ?
need more info!
Off the top of my head I’m using Retropie 3.0 beta 2.
Games such as The Punisher and Final Fight.
on my system (4:3 monitor), the game final fight has some black bars at the top/bottom of the screen. This is correct, as it due to the resolution of the game vs my screen resolution (and the aspect ratios). if it filled the screen vertically, it would look stretched.
is that what you mean ?
If the game was originally meant to be more vertically stretched and displayed at 4:3, then there is no quick fix due to the modifications in the retropie version – it assumes square pixels and only offers a few scaling options. I added some workaround for games like blasteroids where you can choose a doubled y ratio to fix it. I could perhaps add some additional video ratios. Final fight looks fine though on my screen.
sorry correction, this monitor is 5:4 not 4:3
It is seems to be mainly Capcom games, I’ve found a fix (thanks Miggi03), use fba and all works great now and full screen.
Thanks buzz for the explanation. Whilst these games are emulated at the correct resolution they look terribly letterboxed.
Solouton I found was to set MaintainAspectRatio to 0 in fbaX2.cfg
I could not find an equivalent in Advmame with all the Google searches in the world.
