Greetings, I am new to RetroPie and the Raspberry Pi although I am very experienced with computers in general and have tinkered with electronics including Arduino for many years. A friend handed me my first RPi and about 10 minutes later I found this site. This is going to be a whole lot of fun!

Anyway to my simple question… What do you think? Should I start out with the 2.6 stable version, or jump right into the 3.0 beta? Are there any significant pros or cons to either one? I am thinking 3.0, but you tell me.

I would go for the 3 beta.

I struggled with the older versions 2.x on an RPi 1. Got a RPi2 with 3.0 and it’s night and day, go for the beta, it’s way much easier.

Thank you both. I have 3.0 beta 2 up and running with no issues at all! Well, other than I haven’t actually played anything yet. ;)

Like I said, this is gonna be fun! woohoo
