Gamepad works on menu, not in emulators

Hi everyone,

I’m running the latest version of RetroPie. I have configured an iBuffalo Classic USB Gamepad. It looks like a super nintendo controller. The setup seems to go fine, although it never asks for the X and Y buttons.

When navigating the menus and selecting a game, the controller works fine. However once the emulator loads (both NES and Atari) the controller no longer works. I can hit any button and nothing happens.

Any ideas?

I figured it out. I didn’t realize that I had to configure the controller in the console, not just through Emulation Station.
