Failure to Return to ES in non-Retroarch Emulators

I’m having an issue where my setup doesn’t return to ES when I exit non-Retroarch emulators. (Specifically, VICE and OSMOSE.) Works fine outside of ES and retroarch works fine.

Completely stumped as to why this is occurring as there’s nothing in the ES log about an error.

Interesting addition – this does NOT happen on my earlier configuration of Retropie (pre-2) – only on my newest attempt at a setup of 2.3 w/ES2
