I have tried both the binary setup and source setup (18 hours!), and in both cases the included DOOM does not work. Whenever I try and run it, there’s a short pause and then the menu reloads.
Is this a known issue?

I’m having the same issue, even with legitimate WAD’s.petrockblogKeymaster12/09/2013 at 20:12Post count: 1828
The .WAD file that comes with the image/RetroPie Setup Script is not a game. You need to add your own WAD files to the rome directory.
The WADs that I got work fine for me.aerganParticipant12/09/2013 at 22:25Post count: 19
Resolved it, don’t delete ‘prboom.wad’ out of ‘~/RetroPie/roms/doom’ as RetroArch looks to this path for it despite it being here: ‘~/RetroPie/emulatorcores/libretro-prboom/prboom.wad’
This means however you’ll get a rom list like this in emulationstation:

Yes, works for me too – thanks. Sorry, I just assumed it worked out of the box like Duke.brooksyxParticipant12/09/2013 at 23:03Post count: 81
I wonder why Doom doesn’t include the shareware wad file?
