I would like to use 2 wireless xbox controllers with RetroPie – do I need to buy 2 Microsoft xbox wireless adapters? Or will a single adapter be able to communicate with both controllers?

The reason I ask is that the setup instructions for xbox controllers here: https://github.com/retropie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Setting-up-the-XBox360-controller mention 4 wireless controllers – that would mean a whopping 4 wireless adapters at about £16 each – that’s more than the cost of the box itself!

Though I haven’t tested it myself, emulationstation detects 4 controllers when 1 wireless adapter is connected, and retroarch based emulators show text mapping multiple Xbox controllers when starting.

I’d say it’s a good bet one adapter will support up to 4 Xbox controllers…
