Hi I’m brand new to this. I have a raspberry pi 2. Followed the directions found on this site. Downloaded the 3.0 image for pi 2. Extracted using winzip. Copied the image file to an 8gb micro sd card. Inserted it, plugged in the monitor, and keyboard and then plugged in the power supply and got nothing. Red and green lights display but don’t blink. There’s nothing on my monitor and nothing boots. Only thing I can think of is I used an old sd card from a cell phone but I reformatted it both with windows and software and it still won’t work…

Did you write it to the card using this method?

Yes that’s the exact video I followed.

If you have a Pi2 and used this image:
    https://www.petrockblock.com/retropie/retropie-downloads/retropie-project-sd-card-image-for-raspberry-pi-2-version-3-0-beta-2/

    it should be good.

Can you try a different SD card?

Or maybe a different HDMI cable/TV?

Tried 3 monitors and 3 hdmi cables. Tried a new sd card. Tried both 2.6 and 3.0 beta and still doesn’t boot. This is very frustrating. Still getting solid green and red lights with no flickering and no monitor activity.

Does it boot with a normal raspbian image?

If no images will boot I guess its not a RetroPie issue?
And as you have tried different SD cards, maybe its a PSU or issue with the Pi?

Here are some cards that should work:

I don’t think it’s the power supply. Using a 5 volt 2000 amp and the lights are displaying.

The sd cards used were a 8 gb class 4 Samsung and a 16 gb pny class 4. Both seemed to image properly with around 2 gb of data for the 3.0 beta image. Any other thoughts? It doesn’t seem to be booting at all.

I ran into problems with the initial Lexmark microSD card i started with. Switched to a PNY 32GB class 10 card and it booted right up.

Tried a third card. A lexar 16 gb class 10 and a new card writer and still nothing. Lights are solid red and green. I think I might try buying a preloaded card. Not sure what else to do.
