    I am doing some testing whith my headphones but the sound is so low, how can I increase this?

    No, wait in that menu section?

    I was thinking more if you are in a game and you need to turn it up or down, I guess I need an amp?

    Yes, try here:
    sudo /home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh
    3 – Setup
    301 – Audio
    4 – Mixer
