Hello,

I’m currently trying to build a portable handheld console using a Pi, but i’m struggling to find a way to wire this type of buttons to the Pi’s GPIO, do i need additional board to wire this?

Absolutely not. There is at least one set of drivers for a GPIO driven joystick. Just get some jumper cables and go to town.
