editing retroarch.cfg for GPIO controller, please help!

hi,

i need to edit the retroarch.cfg for my controller (http://store.kitsch-bent.com/product/common-ground-dmg-button-pcb) and i followed this fellows advice on the matter – https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=122048&p=822855#p822855 , but i need to edit retroarch.cfg for it to work and i have no idea how! ive tried searching but no luck and turned to the forums for some potential help. the creator of this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw99X6D4Kl4) sent me some file including this one (see file attachted) but i cant seem to make any sense of it! (im a noob). also i need to add shoulder buttons like that chap has done but how do i know what gpio pins to put them on! all very confusing…
any help is very much appreciated.

Use nano to edit the .cfg like so:

sudo nano retroarch.cfg

Assuming that you’re in the folder that retroarch.cfg is in. Otherwise, find the file path to retroarch.cfg and place that after “sudo nano”

As for GPIO pins, there’s some diagrams on raspberrypi.org, and they’re quite confusing so you’ll probably have to reference it a lot.

Thanks,
But accessing the file is not the problem nor is being able to edit it I am using filezilla. I just don’t know what to edit it to to make it work!
