I have ran into the same problem. I use 16 and 32 GB cards in my projects, but now I create my images using an 8GB card which I then create a backup image. I can then copy this image to the larger cards. Never have an issue with the size issue this way.aceisbackParticipant07/17/2015 at 03:05Post count: 23aceisbackParticipant07/14/2015 at 10:55Post count: 23aceisbackParticipant06/10/2015 at 09:15Post count: 23aceisbackParticipant05/22/2015 at 09:40Post count: 23
To fix this, you have to change the gamelist font in the themes. For the stock Retropie image, you have to edit “simple.xml” in the the etc/Emulationstation/themes/simple directory.
I changed the “<fontSize>0.03</fontSize>” line in the “<textlist name=”gamelist”>” to <fontSize>0.055</fontSize>. Here is the entry in simple.xml:
<!– <scrollSound>./art/sound.wav</scrollSound> –>
You can experiment with font sizes here. You can also change the color of the text in the list by changing the <primaryColor> rgb hexcode.aceisbackParticipant04/01/2015 at 01:55Post count: 23aceisbackParticipant03/26/2015 at 02:38Post count: 23
Just go here and find your drive, you will then be able to download the appropriate software if your drive works with it:
I see that not all of the Elements have the download, but a couple of them have a utility to set the idle options.aceisbackParticipant03/25/2015 at 05:06Post count: 23
I know for Western Digital drives, you can download WD Drive Utilities that lets you set up the sleep timer, not sure if other brands have similar software or not. I used it to disable the sleep timer on one of my drives that I use for another project.aceisbackParticipant02/16/2015 at 05:55Post count: 23

Not sure if it is the same issue or not, but I had to place sudo in front of each of the above statements. Don’t know why, but if I don’t, all 4 leds flash on mine. Worth a shot.aceisbackParticipant01/31/2015 at 09:13Post count: 23
Glad you got it figured out. I fought for a while in the beginning trying to get my xbox controller to work and persistence paid off.aceisbackParticipant01/30/2015 at 09:32Post count: 23
I am going to try again with the latest 2.4 image, but the first one did not work for me. Everything was really slow, exiting a game seemed to take forever. The 2.3 image is lightning fast on my setup compared to the 2.4 image. Not sure why though. Anyone else have this issue?aceisbackParticipant01/30/2015 at 09:29Post count: 23
Wouldn’t let me upload, so I have renamed it with a txt extension to see if that works.aceisbackParticipant01/30/2015 at 09:28Post count: 23
If you are downloading 2.3, can you try my es_config file that I have attached? It is the one I am using. Not sure, but I believe the original references both stella and retroarch. I also think the folders changed a bit, but not sure. In the home folder of your setup, are there more than one atari2600 rom folders? In the retroarch.cfg file, my select and start are set to 8 and 9.aceisbackParticipant01/30/2015 at 08:46Post count: 23
I am using the 2.3 image for the moment, not sure if the 2.4 image is different or not. I did try the 2.4 image but had issues with it, so am staying with 2.3 for now.aceisbackParticipant01/30/2015 at 07:58Post count: 23
Are you using the Stella Emulator, or Retroarch for the 2600 emulation?
I am using a wired xbox360 controller and the select and start buttons work fine for me, but I am using Retroarch instead of Stella. Retroarch Atari 2600 emulation is working fine for me.
I can’t remember if I tried the Stella Emulator or not.aceisbackParticipant12/08/2014 at 09:35Post count: 23
Any fix for this yet? I have the same issue and have found nothing to fix it in the forums and google.aceisbackParticipant12/02/2014 at 09:18Post count: 23
Hope this all makes sense, It may be 3 or 4 more days before I get to work with this again, so here is some more info:
I am using the image as downloaded from this site.
I have installed the xboxdrivers. The controller is recognized as an xbox360 controller in JSTEST and JSTEST-GTK.
I am unable to run any commands listed in the various posts on this forum. Another command that I cannot get to work is:
sudo chown pi /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
sudo ./retroarch-joyconfig -j 0 >> /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
I just get a “command not found” error. The emulators all work. but I cannot do anything to configure the controller or retroarch settings.
It seems like I don’t have the right permissions. If I login as root using su root, I get a directory with a “DESKTOP” folder, but cannot see any other files. I can see all files when using WINSCP or Filezilla, but I cannot edit the config.txt file that is in the boot directory unless I use sudo nano to edit it.
I am having to relearn this linux stuff, so I am hoping it is something simple, but I cannot find the answer.
Another issue is the game DOOM, I can use the cursor keys to navigate the menu, but am unable to select options and the game controller does not work with DOOM, yet it works in the individual emulator (Stella and Mame for now).
