I would like to take the default ‘Simple’ theme and change the background images for all systems , and then add a new system theme (PSP, as this has been successfully compiled on the Pi2) but I can’t find ELI5 instructions to do this myself –

Would a PHP script like the one you’re proposing be able to achieve something like that?
